Thanks for the recommendations, very timely really. I follow the SEC and already looking forward (with trepidation) to the NC State-South Carolina game just 2 weeks away.

Good luck with your PhD -- or maybe it's congrats by now?

Here's a book recommendation for you: The Life of Pi -- it seems people either love it or hate it, so you might find it interesting to see what you make of it.

    Hi Zewell Cool,
I'm a big fan of college football and wish I had a better knowledge of the positions, plays and tactics. Can you recommend a book for me?
    Thx,

From a quick runthrough of your lshelf, these are the things I see missing. NO GREAT MISCHIEF ( the best novel of the last 25 years), BLESS ME UNTIMA, ALTER BENJAMIN AT THE DAIRY QUEEN, and anything by Doris Lessing. Nice to have you as a friend.

    Short or long?
I think you'd like Cat and Mouse by G. Grass, Waiting by Ha Jin, anything by David Sedaris--most of the other stuff I've read this year has been YA.
