I was just wondering what you think of Witch Child, if you've had a chance to read it yet. I read it a while ago and I keep meaning to pick up the other books the author has writen. I hesitate because I can't remember what I thought of her writting anymore. I think I may end up re-reading it.

    hey richard,

well, many things about milk's life interested me: that he was a pretty conservative guy for most of his life (goldwater etc.) and had this radical change of heart; that he was quite the natural politician clearly (i liked the way shilts captured the manipulative aspects of his personailty); but most of all how the city's politics was so influenced by milk and the changes it underwent as a consequence.

i have been involved in queer activism for a while now in india (we still battle an antiquated, british anti-sodomy criminal law), and there are similarities in the nascent queer politics of san francisco and here in bombay (mostly the petty, personality-based nature of things). it would be great to have a radical rabble-rouser like milk, although i am certain there will be a price to be paid once the law is removed (in the form of a backlash from conservative ideologues).
