I currently live in Bellingham, WA, but I grew up in the Deep South. The path that has landed me in Bellingham has been a winding one taking me through the field of art as a painter for over twenty-five years and before that through the study of religion. I actually spent one semester at Vanderbilt Divinity School. Life is good. Where that paths... more »

Interesting read, although he assumed in an off-topic discussion that CNN was liberal when we know it is conservative, but at least it is real news.
Belief is important aspect and will lead us into trouble. Our beliefs come first and the facts later in almost all minds. Have to consult my notes to remember.

One of the worse books I have ever read. I give it one star so as to show a rating. What I would do if I wrote such a book would get an editor. If she did have an editor then I would fire that editor. I know it is difficult to write fiction, but really ...

Interesting to read of those times of which I, then a teenager, had only a glancing view. It has been a while since "The New Left" has come up in conversation. Today it is the "Tea Party" based on a misunderstanding of the Boston Tea Party that has taken power, but it is dying a fast death. Now, Occupy Wall Street has found the message to counter the Right's Fox-speak and is unknown their power, but it seems grand. This book was a little difficult to read, but has many points of discussion off which to jump. I saw a commonality of left-right in that both seem to be fighting "bigness." Arendt's view of the difference between power and violence is gold.

Easy read, but a book like this is not about the reading. It is the doing that matters. I find that I am having to really search what is right for me which actually is the good as the author refuses to provide a one-size-fits-all approach. I guess you can say the success of this book resides in the realm of praxis.

The blurbs on this book made it look like a honest open exploration of different traditions. It was a book trying to prove that his version of Christianity is the best religion. Tor Constantino had a very limited view of each tradition. One can not pick cognitively by reading it in a book. For instance, Hinduism is a bunch of beliefs named by the English who encountered these traditions while exploring the Indus River. Buddhism has no deity. There are many types of Zen, and many types of Tibetan Buddhism. Also not all Christian traditions believe in Augustine's "original sin." These traditions vary within themselves. I would have liked to have known before I bought the book that this was an attempt to prove his version of Christianity was the best religion.

Although Yin Yoga is not restorative Yo0ga these writers present a restorative form of Yin Yoga which isolates the parts of the body well and concentrates on relaxation.
