I currently live in Bellingham, WA, but I grew up in the Deep South. The path that has landed me in Bellingham has been a winding one taking me through the field of art as a painter for over twenty-five years and before that through the study of religion. I actually spent one semester at Vanderbilt Divinity School. Life is good. Where that paths... more »

    Hello. I would be happy if you would read the first 3 chapters of Madman in the Mirror. My first novel available on Amazon eBooks. Murder, romance and the paranormal. Sprinkled with humor.

    Thank for joining the yoga group! You should come make some posts and start some discussions. I'm hoping to breathe a little bit more life into this group since there really isn't others like it.

    I've actually been reading Science and Health which is a scripture companion for Christian Scientists (not to be confused with Scientology).
    Other that that not much lately. As the days grow shorter I'll be reading more. I need to update my shelf a little. It's been awhile.

    Yogarific,

    Okay,..thanks for the list. I will take a look. I have video workouts that I do. My three favorites are Brian Kest Power Yoga (I could only do #1&2 - #3 was really difficult), Ali McGraw with Erich Schiffman, and then Shiva Rea with Hatha yoga. She's great, but sometimes hard to do - very advanced. Before my son, I could spend an hour a day, but now I'm lucky if I get an hour a week. I'm trying to find more time, because I really miss it. I'd love to teach, too, eventually. Where did you get your certification?

    Yogarific, Wow,...how do you find the time to read all of these?! I am interested in so much of what you've read. I'm working on getting back to a regular routine of yoga and meditation. Any suggestions for me? Any books on breathing worth reading? What do you think is a good practice to get into. I used to be more into power yoga, but am now leaning more toward hatha. I am looking to be more healthy and in balance. Thanks! :)

    Burning up at 77 degrees!?!? Have you forgotten your Southern Roots!!! Shame on you. It was cooler today at 88 degrees with the same heat index. Last week temps were 99 to 100 with index in the low to mid 100's.

    oh yeah, i got the Bibbero Hiegler artwork because the artist is a close person friend. What I would really like is an original John Hawkins to add to my collection. His work is quite thought provoking and deep. I know you have some and I am envious.

    Good to hear from you. Hanging in here. In the middle of some major grants deadlines. Have enjoyed the last few shows I did live. (well all of them) But the Library Fairy really was fun. May replay that one this week and help my son move. Duty calls.

    one of my favorite poems.

    Solitude
    To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell,
    To slowly trace the forest's shady scene,
    Where things that own not man's dominion dwell,
    And mortal foot hath ne'er or rarely been;
    To climb the trackless mountain all unseen,
    With the wild flock that never needs a fold;
    Alone o'er steeps and foaming falls to lean;
    This is not solitude, 'tis but to hold
    Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.

    But midst the crowd, the hurry, the shock of men,
    To hear, to see, to feel and to possess,
    And roam alone, the world's tired denizen,
    With none who bless us, none whom we can bless;
    Minions of splendor shrinking from distress!
    None that, with kindred consciousness endued
    If we were not, would seem to smile the less
    Of all the flattered, followed, sought and sued;
    This is to be alone; this, this is solitude!
