“This is my favorite of the Thorne Smith books... the scene of the wife being terrorized by the goldfish is priceless! I like that the hero has a good relationship with his daughter, which strengthens with adversity. And you've just got to love a book that begins with a chapter-long discourse on how commuters on a train are just spines in transit. :-) ”

“This wasn't as popular as some of his other books when it was first released, but I found it held up better with time, because it's much more about the interactions of people (even if one of them is prone to becoming a skeleton at socially inappropriate moments) than about society at large.”
