An excellent book that drags the reader though war torn Europe with the family. Written from the childs perspective, it beautifully captures the innocence of youth, the things which are important to a nine year old, and the sense that the world is changing around them with Anna and her brother powerless in the middle, with parents who are trying to retain a level of normality. A beautiful book.

An amazingly beautiful book, one of those that makes you want to go out and buy it for all your friends. Its been a long time since a book has made me cry, but this one managed it.

I love this book! It is amongst the best presents I have ever received, and just makes me want to go to the places he has worked to see his stuff in situ. I love his ideas, the way he makes you think, and the idea that art is for everyone, not just for the elite.
