Duchessina was a likable book at most. There was nothing spectacular about the characters or plot. The details were sparse so I don't believe the story was painted out as well as it could have been. I believe if the author had put a little more time into making the story longer and more detailed I would have enjoyed it more. The character development was slow and I wasn't really fond of any particular character. I believed them all to be uninteresting, especially, Catherine. I did, however, feel bad for the main character because it seems throughout the whole storyline death surrounds her. She basically loses everyone she has ever cared for. I also could not fathom how she could love a husband who did not show any interest in her or kindness towards her and favored his "cougar" mistress over poor, little Catherine. This particular book has not turned me away from reading the rest of the Young Royals books, but I most certainly won't be re-reading this one or recommending it to other readers.

A very informative textbook. One of the few I can actually say I enjoyed reading.

This book was a very heart wrenching read through and through. The writing was superb and the character development was done very well. I cried quite often, especially towards the end chapters. I will definitely be looking forward to reading more of Karleen's work in the future.

This book reminds me a lot of E.A.P.'s The Telltale Heart. Madness just consumes the main character, Tom.

Thorough read. Not too excruciating like most textbooks seem to be.

Wow. After reading this I am not sure what to say. Maybe sloppy would be the appropriate word? I was not impressed with this novel in any way. Some of the situations that were laid out were laughable. The graphic sexual encounters felt out of place too. I wasn't especially fond of any of the characters. Everything was entirely too predictable. To make matters worse, the editor of this book needs a good bitch slapping. There was so many grammatical and spelling errors throughout the book that I found myself laughing on nearly every other page. Poor, poor editor. *head shake*

I had been meaning to read this book for quite sometime now. I purchased it nearly three years ago and have just never got around to reading it. I finally decided to give it a go and see what the Warriors series were all about.
The beginning was incredibly boring in my opinion. I nearly stopped reading the book during the first fifty pages but forced myself to keep reading and not abandon it. I think the plot in general is slow and there is a few exciting action scenes here and there but I think the entire story is too predictable. I feel like the author has mediocre writing skills and could have put in a little more time and effort into making her storyline a little more in depth. I was not very impressed with this book but I didn't dislike it either. I feel as though I knew what was going to happen before it did and that left me disappointed. I am not sure if I will be reading the next book in the series but I might give it another ago. I won't discount it entirely.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Jeanne Popyncourt's mother as well as their abrupt departure from France make this fictional twist on the real Jeanne Popyncourt's life a real page turner. While not completely accurate with history during that period of time, it works since little is known of Mistress Popyncourt. This story revolves around her heartfelt desire to know her family background and the circumstances involving her mother's death. It truly makes a good read. While certain parts are relatively predictable (don't want to include any spoilers here) I really enjoyed this book all around. It has romance, mystery, history, and likable characters. I could really sympathize with Jeanne and her isolation from others at times. I will definitely be picking up another novel from Kate Emerson in the future!

I tried to finish this book on two occasions but the plot was too predictable and cheesy for me to continue through. I guess this book was just too boring for me to finish. I also disliked the main characters.
