I'm a cubicle-monkey, but my heart lays with the those special transports called books. If you have recommendations, I'd love to hear them (but, please, I keep my shelves up to date; it's annoying to get a rec for a book I've clearly read/rated/reviewed). And if you find yourself emailing me several times with no response, please know that it's... more »

I'm jealous...I'd love to go to BEA! One of my fave authors (Christopher Moore) is going to be there. But alas, I'm a poor Canadian who doesn't directly work in publishing, so I'm not even positive I'll make it to BEC this year. It was better than Christmas last year! I'm still wading through all the ARCs, pulling them out as I remember them.

Hi wurd nurd! I found you at Bookmarks too. I checked your shelves and saw that you've read a lot of authors that I'm interested in trying out. What did you think of Kazuo Ishiguro's "The Unconsoled"? Apparently it's the weirdest one of his novels but I like weird and was not overly impressed with "Never Let Me Go".

Hi, Thanks for accepting my friend request. I've managed to add some more books to my shelf - but won't catch up to you anytime soon :) I learned about Shelfari from your post on the Bookmarks web site. Do you have any other recommedations for good magazines or websites for book reviews?

Ah, the grad school budget. Totally understood! We're all for libraries, and that may be the best route for you...

]Do you folks publish YA or tween lit?
Not in particular, but we have a few titles that may be of interest: Rain Village by Carolyn Turgeon and HICK by Andrea Portes. HICK was recently named among the best Adult Books for High School Students by the School Library Journal: http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/article/CA6504068.html

P.S. In case you're wondering, all of the books on our bookshelf were published by us. If you like The Pirate's Daughter, there's a good chance you'll like some of those other books, too. Happy Reading!

I read your comment on Bookmars, where you wrote 7 things about being a reader, you mentioned you are addicted to shelfari, I know the feeling... I too have spent a night adding books and posting reviews. I enjoyed reading your post and I've got "The Constant Princess" in my TBR pile, let me know what you think of it.

HI Wurd Nurd! Welcome on board :-) If you want to join a group, you simply click on the bar that says (something in the line of) join this group in the right hand upper corner. Except if it is a 'members only' group in which case you have to be invited by a member. YA books adults should read is for everyone. I'm looking forward to discussing book with you! Loweyes
