The last one seems especially cool - it's like a murder mystery in verse!!!
Here's a link to some verse bookshttp://www.wiredforyouth.com/books/index.cfm?booklist=verse
Can't wait to see what you think of Potato Peel Society. I keep picking it up.
have you read water for elephants?
Hi How are you? I'm having a lovely time promoting my book here - I get to read at a literary festival soon which will be hilarious! also, my friend is 50 this year and I am giving her the gift of a book a month for a year - I'm having such fun choosing.....she loves 20th century American Literature - so any suggestions? Let me know....
you jogged me into activity........! I just went to the most amazing literary salon last night at the very swanky Shoreditch House (NOT my normal hangout I assure you!) and it made me realise how much I love books and reading and the people surrounding it all as well. I'm going to add a few new books that I have devoured recently - thanks for adding me and yes let's be bookie mates - what's you last read?...
Hey, I read The Bean Trees and I loved it! Did you like it? I remembered you saying yuck about it...
By the way, yes, the Valerie Plame is worth checking out. I rarely buy books, but it's worth a library check out. It was interesting to me how sections of this book have been shaded out. I found myself trying to guess who or what was behind the shading. Such corruption and deceit.
You've really peaked my interest with your comments about The Higher Power of Lucky. I've been an LB fan for about 5 years now. My friend said he finished Faye on an airplane and wanted to jump out.
Ok, I'll start the group up again!
Yeah, we have to read theBean Trees, The Good Earth, and we have a choice for the third one: anything by Hemingway (though I hate The Old Man and the Sea), Steinbeck (except of Mice and Men), Morrison, or Fitzgerald (except The Great Gatsby).
Hey, I thought maybe you could suggest a book for me for our 11th grade summer reading?
Oh I'm glad you are interested in it! Maybe we could start it up again and be co administrators? I deleted it because I wasn't sure how to keep it going...Thanks to Nancy Drew, without her, I might not be such a big reader today!
That sounds really cool, I might just read that, though Harper Lee seems a bit of a boring recluse, from what I've heard.
Wow, that sounds really cool!
Have you read To Kill a Mockingbird?
did you get to see barrow's play?
Hey Mrs. Stephens! It's Allie (aka Sunny, hence "The golden apples of the sun")!Sienna and I just got accounts! Thanks for telling us about this! I'm going to add alot more books soon!
Hey Ms Stephens!i have a whole list that i want to read but i probably wont get through very many because i'm going to be gone on one trip or another for almost the entire summer :/i'm sure i'll catch up when school starts back, though hope you have a great summer!ttyl
I jumped at it because it was Appalachian. I liked it. My favorite part was her wearing the "overalls" of the family. And the scene where they buried the brother. How can this be used for Teachers as Readers, though? Interdisciplinary maybe? Polio/science? WWII/history?
