Welcome to Better than Starbucks! Look around, make yourself at home, start a new thread or dig up an old one or just read and jump in on the more active ones.

We are honored to be one of your first groups!

There have been a few differences between the movie and the book but not enough to take away from either. It's looking like we might have a rainy weekend so I just might get this book finished today. Can you believe I haven't finished a single book this month?! What is wrong with me!!! I have lots of catching up to do !!

Oh I'm loving The Lightening Thief! I thought I would because I really enjoyed the movie! Thankfully I still have my copy of Olive Kitteridge so I can refer back to it when I need to for the discussion. There were so many details in that book that just didnt' stick with me.....but I really liked it too :o)

Hi Weena! I'm here on behalf Author, Author and wanted to welcome you to our forum. April's featured author is Peter Matthiessen, and we have two alternate authors, Barbara Kingsolver and Michael Pollan. If you're interested, you can choose a book written by any (or all!) of these three authors, and after you've read it, please come post a review and star rating so the rest of us in the group know what you read and whether you liked it or not. Feel free to look through our past authors, or chime in about April's. Also be sure to stop in around mid-month each month and put your name in the drawing to pick an author. Happy Reading!

Oh good! I hope you like it as much as I did. I love most everything Jodi Picoult writes....she's had some "misses" though. House Rules, thankfully, is not a "miss"! And if you know anyone with Asperger's, you'll probably like it even more! Did you finish Heartburn?

You sure do have a lot of books on your "plan to read" shelf!! Did you ever finish The Help?? Or start it yet? I think it's my new favorite. I still have Graceling on my Paperback Swap wish list. Still pretty far up the list but I'll get it eventually.

With a profile name like writergal16, I'm sure you do your fair share of reading and writing. I was wondering if you could checkout my new website for me. I am a writer also and I enjoy good books, but with school and family sometimes it hard for me to finish a novel, that's why I came up Rapture of Worlds. It's a series of easy-to-read short stories. It's a pay site but episodes are inexpensive let me know what you think.

I'm seeing my daughter tomorrow and hopefully she'll bring me her copy of The Host so I can read it.

I DID have a great day....hope you did too :o) You know I've actually never read Louisa May Alcott. Shocking, huh?? Sorry you couldn't get in to She Walks These Hills....it was pretty good once I got into it. Still deciding if I should attempt The Host. Doesn't sound like many in our group have liked it. My daughter has it. May send her a message in a bit and see if she'll let me borrow it.

Hi. Sorry it's been awhile is I last wrote. I've been very busy of late. I understand with you deleting the group; it's a lot of work. Maybe in the future you can start another one.

Seen any good movies lately? I haven't been in several weeks which is a big surprise. I've been doing more reading. Can't exactly sit outside at the moment due to the rain.....but I love to curl up under the blanket and drinking hot chocolate and reading :) Have a wonderful weekend and chat with you later. BTW, what are you reading at the moment? I'm reading several books: How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent, Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Witch of Portobello.

OK. Could NOT get into To Say Nothing of the Dog! I don't know what it was, but my mind just kept drifting off while I was reading it, which is not a good sign. So I returned it back to the library and picked up City of Ashes, the second book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I'm really liking this trilogy! Easy read.

Hi WriterGal, Things are good, though I'm failling in my attempt to read 50 books this year! I'm only on #15 and I start grad school in the fall, and I doubt I'll make it to 50 by then. Once I'm in school my time will likely be taken up with other reading. Hope you are well!
