I am originally from Corsicana, Texas...a small town 50 miles south of Dallas. After graduation from college at East Texas State University in 1976, I lived in Dallas for many years. I have a degree in social work, began working in an eye clinic preparing patients for surgery, and eneded up being a technician...the career has served me well. I enjoy reading, movies, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, working in my yard...my husband is my best friend in all these endeavors. He was born and raised in Hawaii. I have several close friends, and some "casual" friends I wish I took more time with! I also enjoy reading about physics and astronomy, as well as attending art museums, theatre and musical concerts. I play the piano some, and have just recently begun taking lessons again so that I will be more motivated/disciplined to spend time at the piano. I also love road trips! I love Texas dearly, and visit often. The hill country is one of my favorite places to be...other than Hawaii! I moved to Hawaii in 1993 to "get away" for about a year or so...but I ended up meeting my future husband here! Moved back to Hawaii in 1996 to be with him and have been here since. My husband and I moved to Kauai in 2003 and love it here. We enjoy hosting friends and family that come to visit.
I do love to read, and have ever since I was a child. I can still hear my mother's voice reading to me before was old enough to read by myself. I do not read as often as I would like, as I am easily sided tracked by movies (another good form of literature!)
I like book recommendations that take me to books I would not usually find on my own...my neighbor and "Shelfari friend" Pat Thiel knows of about 1,000 interesting books I have not read yet!
