I highly recommend that you read LA Meyer's Bloody Jack Adventures! Sail on, Jacky!
For an excellent vampire series, I recommend Raven Hart's Savannah Vampire Series!

Oh yeah! Oh well, I have PLENTY to read! I have 4 books waiting for pick up at two different libraries! Not sure I'll even get them all read. Reading Bitten by Kelley Armstrong now and it's really good! The library might have The Girl from Junchow. I can't remember if I checked or not.

Hey Evie, got Ballad today! Thanks! A couple days after you mailed it I ended up ordering my Christmas present. It's all three of her books signed! So I will probably read yours cause I'm not sure when mine will get here. But if mine gets here before I get to yours I'll mail it back. Thanks so much for loaning it out to me! I didn't know I'd have this opportunity to get her books signed and I couldn't pass it up. Oh, and I love the paper in the front stating the book is yours. It is ROTFLMAO funny!
Let me know if I have any books you might want to borrow. I got them all unpacked now and I think I know where each and every one is! Have a good one! ttys!

Hi Lady! Just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you I still read your reviews and love all of your recommendations even if it's just from the sidelines. Sorry I haven't been very active here at shelfari but life is super busy. I am back in school, working full time, and try to keep up with my kids social life I am lucky I still have time to read (reading is still my only escape). Anyways, just wanted to say hi and tell you how much I appreciate you reviews!!!
p.s. do you know if Raven Hart will come out with another book for the Savannah Vampire Series?

Okay. (About Ballad). I really want to own them but I'm not much of a rereader and don't own Lament, so maybe I should borrow it from you and can buy it in a few years or get it off of PBS. I just can't buy anymore books! I've been bad since we moved and bought far too many books! So that would be awesome if you loaned it to me. Thank you! And its no hurry to get it in the mail, I need to finish Catching Fire and have tons of others to read, certainly no lack of books here! It seems like it's taking me a week or more to get through a book these days. Even the easy ones like Catching Fire. I'll ttys!

Oh, I read the whole thing. I hated the end. I didn't want him to die. I wanted something to happen and that stuff they were trying out worked and he lived. I was the opposite of you, I really wanted to like it. I tried the entire time. It really was like a dream, nothing really making sense and for some reason it irritated me. The parts that were more normal were okay, but all that off the wall stuff was just too much. I'm kinda mad cause I spent like two months book allowance on this book. I rarely buy new books but I just knew I would LOVE this book. I was so wrong. So I'm trying to sell it so I can buy Ballad. Or Jacqueline Carey's new book. I did buy Tempted today (the new House of Night book), but I'm feeling really guilty. Oh well, I'll just try to be good for the next few months.

I will stick with the series, though it was painful reading of her dismissal from the school and becoming a serving girl. I really dislike Clarissa (and hope that she gets her just desserts).

Thanks for the information. I am skimming the Blue Tattoo, and looking forward to the next one. It is just brutal to read all the hardships that Jacky endures. I don't know if I have the will right now to read on. Is there any joy that I can look forward to in Jacky's life?

I really enjoyed Bloody Jack--it wasn't at all what I was expecting. I didn't realize how mature it was, in the sense that Mary (Jacky) experiences so much tragedy. The death of her family and Charlie, as well as her beating by Bliffil was tough to read, even though she is a trooper and a real surviver.
I am only at the beginning of Curse of the Blue Tattoo, though already I am anxious for Jacky, with that nasty Mistress, as well as Clarissa Howe. I am trying to enjoy Jacky's exuberance for life in general, no matter what is thrown her way.

Thank You for the bookmark!!! We've all been sick with the flu so finding it in the mailbox made my day :) Hope your doing well? Are you going to participate in the November writing challenge I keep hearing about? I had read somewhere that Sara Gruen wrote Water for Elephants during it a year or two ago?

Hi Evie- I guess it has been a good while since we've corresponded- are you still taking classes? How is the writing going? I haven't written a new poem in months. I am currently reading LES MISERABLES by Victor Hugo, the inspiration for the musical. It is quite long- it will take me a month solid of voracious reading to finish it. I have really gotten into Neil Gaiman over the past several months- I just finished ANANSI BOYS and it proved to be a very worthy follow-up to AMERICAN GODS. I have also read STARDUST-like the book and the Claire Danes film as well. Are you still reading a lot of vampire books? Do you plan to see "New Moon" or are you going to pass? Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. TTYS-JR

Oh WoW! Thats sounds amazing you were able to see that much!! Its such a beautiful place we went *g* its been 9 years ago this November. It was a business trip for my husband so we only had a week but I did my best to fit in as much as possible and I'd go back in a heart beat. I still have my travel books when I first started the fever series I would have the maps out trying to see how accurate she was. It was very cold to this Florida girl but it never rained while we were there I just could not get over all the green in November no less, in freezing weather. We went to Glendalough one day and then Powers Court the next and spent one whole day just driving in the country side outside of Dublin. We found one pub in the country side and I made the mistake of asking where the bathroom was? The bar guy starts pointing all over and thats when I realized they had decorated the walls with antique bed pans. Dublin was crazy though wasn't it! I'll be sure to drop by the blog to see the pics when you get them up.

I've been pretty sick so I have only read about 100 pages in Going Bovine but I really like it. I was reading in the Dr office yesterday and laughing. I'm sure people were looking at me funny. Nothing new... :)

It's great but of course I think Maggie can do no wrong! I don't think I like it as much as Lament though. How's Going Bovine? I picked it up at the bookstore today.
