Chris W.

I am originally from Michigan but now reside in Tennessee. Having served in the US Army for several years I really enjoy reading Military History books, both fiction and non-fiction. I like all eras of military history from the dark ages through modern times on into what the future might hold. Still, I do try to read other books from... more »

Glad to here from you ! I understand about the job, hope it is a good one, and one that you semi - enjoy, lol. I have had little time for Shelfari also, have been working way to many hours for what is supposed to be part time training & consulting. Also my daughter has just come home from a 32 day hospital stay, most of which was in intensive care. So I understand the busy. Take care.

Chris, I added "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Lutrell to my plan to read list. A friend who has read it told me it's a great true story of sacrifice and hardship in the battle zone so thought I would pass it on to you. Enjoy and READ ON...

Hi Chris--Thanks for letting me know! I've fixed the group title for The Greenjackets' Inn group and you should be able to post now. Let me know if you have any further issue. Best, Amanda

Hi Chris, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I'm without a computer at the moment so there's not much I can do, but hopefully I will be back online in about 10 days. If you still have the same problem I'll see what I can do then. The worst that can happen is that you have to reregister under a slightly different name. But hopefully the admins will come up with a good solution.

    Chris,
The other co-admin was also promoted unknowingly, he was trying to figue it out also. Here is my response to him:

Ahh, I think Amanda, who is a shelfari big wig must have done it. She was listed as the admin I think. She never did anything with the group, and likely just picked us because we have been to the group recently. I am game to try it. I have recently taken the Bernard Cornwell group by asking shelfari for it, as the old admins had not been on shelfari in months. so I am somewhat aware as to how it works. I would like to also make Chris W. a co-admin, as he is active and intrested in this group also. I will be in touch later. Thanks for responding. Have a good week. Ben

I left a note for the admin, asking if it was intentional, and if so why he picked me. We'll see when I get a reply. I enjoy the period but I am a reader not a scholar, and I don't want to bite of more than I can chew.

You should receive an invite to Shelfari Amins automatically. You can puruse the topics, but mostly, when you go on the BC group page you will see a button "group settings", up in the right hand corner, and you can see the things we can change, and if you go to more discussions, you will see how to pin a topic. I would like to keep pinned topics to about 5 to keep the whole first page from being pinned. Thanks again, Ben

Hey bud. I actually just picked up a Game of Thrones again yesterday since I'm between books with the thought of rereading. I visited GRRMs site yesterday as well and that was the determining factor to pick up the series again. What a difference reading it this time. Hope all is well

Dang!!! You read a lot of books. I have only read a couple this summer. I did start rereading some of my "Harry Potter" books though. Aunt Sue says "HI".

Sorry- I haven't gone on this site in ages. I added some books to my list. I loved "The Book Theif" that you suggested. Great summer reading.

    Chris,

I am working on Red Seas Under Red Skies. Excellent, I've got about 100 pages to finish and I can't wait to see what happens. Looks like "Republic of Theives" comes out in February and he's got 2 novellas coming out in May next year that are prequel-type stories: (per Wikipedia) The first two are entitled The Mad Baron's Mechanical Attic and The Choir of Knives. Gollancz will be releasing them in an omnibus edition entitled The Bastards and the Knives in May 2009. Lynch later announced that, due to an email he received from an Australian fan, at least the first novella would concern Locke and Jean's acquisition of a cask of expensive brandy, set before The Lies of Locke Lamora....
