I am DELIGHTED to see the short stories of the incomparable O. Henry on your shelf. He's one of my all-time favorites! "The Ransom of Red Chief" is one that never fails to leave my boys in stitches!
hi,there. I like as the same as you. But you can add Shakespearen sonnets for me .
Yes, I love poetry. I am a member of various poetry groups. Perhaps you would enjoy them as well.
Good evening, another Blake reader here... apart from the "Illuminated Books" (exquisitely published by Princeton as your bookshelf knows), let me know if you have suggestions regarding editions of his non-illuminated poetry... greetings from Italy.
hello wood, what kind of poetry you are mostly interested in?
I saw that you like poetry. So do I.

This is going to sound like a strange question but I thought I would ask since you have sever philosophy books... You don't happen to know of a good critique of Aristophanes (the Ecclesiazusae in particular) that treats his plays as political texts? I've been searching high and low and have come up with Leo Strauss who is interesting but I would like some other opinions. Cheers, Sonora
i made a note about lessing in the transgressive book group. i haven't read anything of hers in a number of years, but THE FOUR-GATED CITY was a book that rocked my whole world when I read it twenty years ago. It is the fifth book of her CHILDREN OF VIOLENCE series, which may drag a bit at times, but is immensely rewarding. I'm not as crazy about what she has been doing for at least the last twenty years, but what I do gather from things that I have read from her later period is that she is writing more to enjoy herself than she did in the past, and given how much she has already given me, it would be so rude of me to begrudge her this. She also once sent me a beautiful Georgia O'Keefe card in response to a passionate (almost) love letter which I wrote to her.
nice wings. reading makes me fly too. we have a lot of books in common with neither of us hitting the 1000 mark, let alone 2000. i like your shelf a lot. be safe and well, alyssa
