Due to the heavy amount of reading I did for college classes and in my training, I suffered a reading burn out from which I’ve only recently recovered. I’m rediscovering how refreshing reading can be when I don’t have the specter of a paper, exam, or job termination hanging over my head while I read. It may be a while before my recreational... more »

A well-researched and well-written book. Not sure I agree with assigning the preponderance of blame to the CIA. The effort to play up John O'Neil as the only person who could've stopped 9/11 from happening if he had not been forced out of the FBI betrays the author’s bias as well. Still, the book offers a very good glimpse into the inter-agency friction in the US and the history and rationale of the Islamic Jihadist movement, making it a worthwhile read.

Good insight into the history behind the Iran-US relationship. Too bad too many people forget or ignore that history when they blame our current President for the tensions between us and Iran.

A good and interesting read. The authors clearly did their homework in researching the history behind the story presented in the book. I was expecting a book with narrow focus on the 1925 Diptheria epidemic in Nome and was pleasantly surprised by the side trips the authors make into Alaska's history along the way.

Great book and a good illustration of the dangers of mobocracy and the current protester/activist culture.

I can speak a little bit of Spanish, so this book was a great refresher. It was also indispensible on my trip to Argentina.

This book does a great job presenting perspectives from both sides of the conflict. I thought McCullough's technique of quoting from various personalities and following what happened to them as events depicted in 1776 unfolded made this book an interesting read rather than a dull regurgitation of history.
