Hi all!

I'm a 27 year old Young Adult/AV Librarian and a Reference Librarian (part time). I love reading mostly adult books, of the contemporary fiction variety, but I also read some YA stuff. I'm extremely picky when it comes to books and I pride myself in having good taste (or so I think). I'd love it if you recommended a book to me,...more »

This book was okay, I really enjoyed it in the beginning but the last 100 pages really really dragged. It is a tale of family, two sisters, and Thanksgiving night. I read this book the week before Thanksigving to get me in the mood. I'd recommend to someone who likes family drama.

  • That Went Well: Adventures in Caring for My Sister

This book was an ARC about a woman who is disabled and her sister who is a caretaker. The book is written beautifully and drew me in. It was a very quick read, but it was one that was sad and emotional for me. I recommend to anyone who enjoys memoirs about families who deal with hardships.

  • Larry's Party
    • Rated 3 stars

I liked this book but I didn't love it. It tells the story of Larry Weller, a normal American guy. The story is told via several vignettes, and while I found it to be interesting, each vignette behaved as if you were just starting the book, stating several facts over again. The book starts off with Larry as a young man and finishes when he is in his late 40's. Overall, a good read.

This book started out being so much fun! I liked the characters, the time period, and the campiness. BUt the story quickly went from odd to unbelievable. I didn't like the ending, I didn't like the way the characters turned out. It had so much hope! But it sadly faltered. It's not bad enough to get 2 stars, it was entertaining, but I quickly went from 4 to 3.

  • Beginner's Greek: A Novel

This is a love story, simple as that. Two people meet on a plane, fall in love instantly. She gives him her number and he promptly loses it, and they end up meeting later when she is dating his best friend. A series of events occurs that draws them closer together but will they truly end up together? This book has a bunch of odd situations that seem at times convuluted, but it is an entertaining and sweet, refreshing read that is much more literary than trashy.

This book was well written but extremely gruesome and depressing. After all, the topic is the Holocaust, but even so, this book has nothing but tragedy after tragedy. It is good if you are interested in reading some good WWII fiction, but don't read it if you want to stay upbeat and not depressed.

This was a powerful book about a girl who was sold into slavery by her own family. It was very difficult to read but it was a worthwhile one!

  • Thirteen Reasons Why
    • Rated 5 stars

This book is an extremely powerful one. A read that could most likely change the way you view other people. Hanna Baker killed herself. But she decided to create a set of audiotapes that explained 13 reasons why she did it. Each tape represents a different person. This book is extremely suspenseful and told in a very compelling manner. The narrator, Clay, alternates with Hanna's voice on the tapes, giving a commentary of sorts. I listened to this book on audio, and found it worked beautifully. This book will definitely touch your senses.

This book was a pretty boring read. I liked Best Foot Forward. But this book had too many characters with very weird names and a plot that wasn't that great. A ghost is found in a town and the main character is a reporter who lost his dad. Not a very exciting book at all. Not her best!
