I am in my early 30s, married, and an avid reader. No kids, one adorable cat. I've always loved reading, so my listings here are not going to be comprehensive, but rather a snapshot of what I'm reading currently. I was an English/Philosophy double major in college and I enjoy most of the "classics," like Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Rudyard Kipling, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, etc. If it's on a high school or university reading list, I've probably read it at some point.
Most recently, my husband has introduced me to the science fiction/fantasy genre (Neil Gaiman, Piers Anthony, Jim Butcher) and a few good friends to paranormal romance (Laurell K Hamilton, Patricia Briggs, Richelle Mead). I tend to plow through an author's entire collected works, or at the least their series that interest me, in one fell swoop and then impatiently wait for the next book to come out. Like with food, I am willing to try most things, although I have favorite ingredients.
General Flavors I like right now: Science fiction and fantasy, mystery/detective-like plots (think anywhere from "The Historian" to Stephanie Plum), paranormal romance (including vampire, werewolves, and wizard themes), historical fiction, adventure novels, fairy tales and their spin-offs
General Dislikes: Most biography books, Slasher-type horror, War novels (although I was marooned at a relative's house as a high schooler and read quite a bit of the Mack Bolan, Phoenix Force series), business propoganda, most self-help tomes
