Classics are one of my favorite genres; such as Little Women, Anne of Green Gables and the Jane Austen books.
I have been going to book clubs for many years. I... more »

Hi there - haven't been on Shelfari very much lately. Are you on Facebook? I do that a lot. Thanks for the 2 holiday notes. Hope your Christmas was good. We had a quiet but nice day. I am now finally reading The Final Quest and can hardly put it down. I got it for Christmas - it's with The Call which is the 2nd book in the series. Take care.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! Thanks for the nice holiday wishes! Did you have a good holiday season? I had a lovely time. I even got a new book as a present from my mom! :-) Have you been able to read anything lately? Talk to ya later!
Wow, your girls do sound busy! It's neat that you homeschooled them. Is your eye better now? Sorry you strained it. The weather here has been pretty cold for TX. A lot of days have been very nice and Fall-ish (I think I just made a new word-lol). I bet it's beautiful there with all the changing colors, as you said. The leaves here haven't changed a whole bunch, but there is some changing color. We have a lot of pine trees around here.
Have you read anything good lately? I found a book on a website that gives reviews, and it looks good. It's called Primavera and it's set in Italy in the Rennaisance (sp?) period. I'm interested in reading it because I like novels set in a historic period. It's a "Young Adult" book - I think there are a lot of good books that are in the YA category. Anyway, my favorite era is the Victorian era, but I read books from other eras too. Do you have a favorite era? (I hope you didn't already tell me-my memory is not as good as it used to be!)
Take care, and talk to you later!
I've gotten a little side-tracked myself. My youngest turned 2, my ex's mom came to visit, and things have just been crazy around my house. Not to mention I'm trying to get to the gym more often. Although I have found that I can do the bike and read at the same time.
Doing pretty well. I'm reading The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning - have you heard of it or read it? It's very interesting. Yes, I've been busy too. We are very involved with the International House of Prayer of Knoxville. It's a lot like the one in Kansas City, but we are not full time yet. I did go to the mountains on Friday and to look at the fall colors. Oh it was just gorgeous and the sun held out until we were done. This year the colors have been great - so much better than the last few years in my opinion. Being from So. California I had never really experienced the 4 seasons until we moved here 10 years ago. I remember my first fall I was in a constant state of wonder and amazement. I guess that about it. Hope you and your daughters are doing well.
That's my Natalie! She loves books. She actually put all those books (which were library books) in the playpen and crawled in there. She didn't want her sisters bothering her. She's 3, she's going to be my reader.
All of my children have their own library cards except my almost 2 year old. I keep them in my wallet until it's time to check out, then they like to check their own stuff out.
My girls love story time at the library. We like to go on certain days because the lady who reads the stories is from England and my girls love her voice and love hearing her tell the stories.
Hi Laura, and welcome to Moms Who Read...we're so glad to have you with us! I hope you'll drop in to talk about your favorite books or even about your life as a mom. Hi! How are you doing? Did you have a fun outing, going to Hobby Lobby and Books-A-Million (that sounds like a great time to me!)? What do you think of Carry on, Jeeves?
I'm still reading Petticoat Ranch - I'm a slow reader. It keeps getting more and more interesting, skipping back and forth between different characters. Thanks for telling me about your mom - I requested her as a friend. She seems nice, like you. :-) Talk to you later!
