I've written twelve novels, with the most recent, TWO SECONDS LATE, coming out in Feb. '12. I'm working on my thirteenth, a novelization of the film, OCTOBER BABY, due out in September. I've had four novels published through WaterBrook Press (a division of Random House) and six more with Thomas Nelson, Inc. My novel based on the hit film... more »

Eric thanks for the add! So excited to pick up some of your books - I absolutely LOVE the way Shelfari has put me in touch with authors as reading is such a big part of my life. Best of luck with your new release - take care, Katie. Are you on facebook as well?

Fully understand Eric! If our libraries here had electronic versions of the novels I read, such as Christian Fiction, then I would have gone for the Kobo, Sony or Nook, I did like the first version of the Nook! You will enjoy reading on these devices; a lot of us find we read faster. I read about two novels in e-book format to one novel in paper format. My daughter who finds reading difficult is now reading well and enjoying it on her Kindle. It has solved her reading problem!! Thanks for the banter back and forth!!

Had you ever considered the Kindle? I chose the Kindle for one reason only: that most of the christian fiction I wanted to buy I cannot get here in Australia either from a secular bookstore or from the two Christian Book stores either in paper format or electronically. Our libraries here either do not have any Christian fiction or very little. I have not looked back since buying in paper format or electronically from Amazon. The fact that the Kindle is also an easy to use device is an added bonus for me.

Can I ask you what led to deciding on the Kobo?

Eric, As you have probably guessed, I have a Kindle. I love it. I find, and others do too, that we read faster with this device (I don't know why!). It is an absolute joy to be able to buy a book online using the built in browser and have this book delivered to the device withing 60 seconds!! I am not sure if the Kobo has this function. I know the Nook (from Barnes and Noble does too) and the Sony reader does not. You might like to visit two e-reader groups here at Shelfari that I know of: E-Reader Universe and eReaders, eBooks, eAuthors. I belong to both. The former has more activity than the latter.

I have only two reservations with e-books. I wish they all had the front cover included, (most do) and that they all had the blurb at the book of the book included in the digital edition. I can only speak for the Kindle/Amazon editions. Apart from that, I am hooked on e-books, digital editions and e-readers. Your next book with be the first of yours that I will have in digital format. Looking forward to that.

Look forward to your impressions of the Kobo, how your books appear on it and e-readers!!

    Regards

Thanks Eric, I decided I would buy these books and have done so. The descriptive writing will be fine; I have had this before. I look forward to your review.

Also look forward to your new book too! Will it be coming out in Kindle format?

Eric, The book One Step Away. Is this your new book? It is not on Amazon. Where did you get your copy? Am I joining the right dots?

Thanks for the response, Eric. Yes, he certainly doesn't pull punches. The first thing he told me was the beginning of my novel was boring. Surprisingly, it's the first time I got a critique that didn't hurt (yay for God's grace). I have that book on my to-get list; definitely time to get it then.

Finally got to read Fireproof. It came in the midst of some really bad books and was a refreshing joy to read! Thank you for using your talent to glorify God.
I'm also interested in your take on Jeff Gerke. I got to meet him at a conference this week and learned a ton just sitting in his class. What was the best advice he gave you when he helped edit your work?

The world is not as just, not as loving, not as whole as we know it can and should be. But the coming of CHRIST and his presence among us—as one of us—give us reason to live in hope: that light will shatter the darkness, that we can be liberated from our fears and prejudices, that we are never alone or abandoned. God sent JESUS not just to save us, God came down so He could forever be with us *You are a friend of God ~ Merry Christmas*
