Mark Williamson

I have read way too many business books in my day... so I am expanding my horizons by getting into new genres. Don't get me wrong, I still have a stack of business books I will read, but right now I am starting to read Enders Game, which will be my first "True" Sci-Fi read... I will let you know how it goes.

So do me a favor, recommend... more »

This is one of the funniest books I have ever read. Might be worthy of a spot on my Top 10 list.

This book was a let down after reading Atlas Shrugged earlier this year. While Rand clearly is a special author, I often times find myself frustrated that the core concepts feel like they are unnecessarily POUNDED into my head.

I read way too many non-fiction books and lately I have been trying to mix it up with some good works of fiction. This is one of the best works of fiction I have read in a while. I highly recommend it!

I read this book while finishing my first year in business school at MIT. A few of us were headed to Vegas for some fun and decided to use some of the tactics in this book (counting & team play) and I can attest that it works. We played it small, at the $5 tables and never bet sooooo much as to draw attention, but we made enough to pay for our weekend fun there.

Ok, now for my thoughts on the book. This was a fun book to read, a real page turner where I couldn't wait to hear what happened next. I hear there is a movie in the works, and you can bet that will be there on opening weekend.

This was my first Michael Crichton book, and I fell in love with it immediately. I only wish I could find more time to read some more of his classics.

Jurassic park as a book is part thriller, part science fiction, part adventure. The book is also much better than the movie, so I highly recommend reading the book before jumping to the movie.

I was read this book a lot as a child, and for the first 18 months of her life I read this book to my daughter every night before bed.

    Worth it's weight in GOLD!

After college I lived in downtown Chicago and found that I could get around just fine with public transportation. I found the same to be true when I moved to Boston and then Seattle. When I moved to Silicon Valley I needed a car and needed to finally purchase a vehicle. Having never gone through the process I found this book INCREDIBLY useful..... It saved me thousands of dollars on each of the cars I had to purchase (one for me and one for my wife). After reading this book I actually enjoy helping others go through the process!

Short story about why people shouldn't fear change. Worth the incredibly short read time.

  • The Innovator's Dilemma

This is a must read for anyone interested in marketing, strategy, or product development. While many of the core concepts in this book were first written about by James Utterback in his seminal work "Mastering the Dynamics of Innovation", Christensen was able to crystallize these concepts by bringing them to life by explaining the dynamics of the disk drive industry.

Read this book, consider the sequel, but stay away from the final in the series.
