Michael L

Basically an island boy. I live in the city but I see it through his eyes. My best asset is my sobriety. I love a certain cat. If I had my druthers I would probably play the guitar all day a lot of days. Lately I've been reading comics. My wife is a librarian and a gardener and a great person. I love singing in my fabulous choir at my... more »

Thank you Michael. My husband is looking a little sheepish because I turned to him ans said "why did'nt you tell me that" and quickly added "you do not have to do it now". He gives me this fancy laptop and I have never had time to take a lesson, but guess the rest of you did'nt either LOL that's whats so nice about computers, we can all use them if we try.Hope everthing is ok with you and you are enjoying summer in Seattle. Oh was listening to TV the other day and heard they caught the man who killed the girl from "The Gits" but you may already know, such a senseless murder and a waste of a lot of talent and a young life.Take care and God Bless.Sheila

I can easily envision a flowering cherry tree, with clouds of blooms, and gentle breezes creating blankets of pink snow. Beautiful vision.

Thanks for the request. I've been lurking on BTS group, never feeling like I have much to add. But I thought the game sounded fun & I still had a few extra minutes this a.m. before the rest of the family got up. I have a hubby who works in retail, therefore he works almost every Saturday & we have two kids. A 5 yo boy & a 4 month old girl. And three dogs :0) Animal lovers in this house.
    Have a good weekend!

I started a group called Read-a-Likes, and I'm trying to get some active readers involved in the group to help create lists of, well, read-a-likes. The group is small as I just started it the other day and only have a few posts, but I'd really like to get some more active members that can help create these lists. I think that it would come in handy for other members that are looking for some helpful readers advisory. Check out the group if you're interested: http://www.shelfari.com/groups/26266/about (i think that might work, haha). Again, the group's name is Read-a-likes.

    Thanks

    K.

Kurt Vonnegut used to live down the street by the Bay. His daughter still does - she converted his barn into her home. She is an artist whose muse is the domestic goddess, and is kind of into her own form of graffiti. His sons have all moved away after school. He was one of my favorites in my 20s-30s, and now my kids are that age and they love his stuff too. Breakfast of Champions is about our home town.

So Michael L - we do have clams. We have little necks about 2" (steamers), cherry stones, about 2 3/4", then what we commonly call quahogs or some call brights are the big boys, which is kind of silly because they are all quahogs aka clams. Anything smaller than 2" are illegal, and then I think if they get too big they're too chewy. The bigger ones are good when you cook, shuck, mince and add breading and spices and restuff, bake again and serve with tobasco.

The oysters between the Pacific and the Atlantic are very, very different. Our's our quite small and can be eaten - preferably - on the half shell raw. Your oysters are HUGE and can easily make a meal out of ONE, and I only saw in the restaurants served breaded.
