This is a very intense book. Congo is a modern Indiana Jones type adventure into the Congo in search of King Soloman's diamonds. The diamonds are guarded by killer, giant gorillas with a bad temper.

I read this book in seventh grade. It is an awesome book about an Eskimo girl who becomes part of a pack of wolves an the Alaskan Tundra. She even eats the regurgitated meet the wolf pups eat.
My fondess memory of this book was when my science teacher brought in his pet wolf. It was an enormous animal with snow white fur and paws as big as my hands.

Florida kids read A Land to Remember. In California, we read this book about the islands off our coast.

He never went to college but ended up a general. Chuck Yeager was a World War II ace, was shot down, was the first man to break the sound barrier, rode horses, brought golden trout to the Sierras in a borrowed plane, was a test pilot, had eyes like a hawk, and it keeps going. He was one of my heroes. A book can help you find yours.

This is the ultimate fishing story. Be prepared, it might seem small, but this book is heavy.

An American test pilot, brought up in the traditional Sioux way by his grandfather, escapes a Siberian prison after crashing his military jet -- cool. Then, he eludes capture while crossing the wild Siberian frontier, so that he can Kayak across the Bering Sea to Alaska. This guy is all man. If you like adventures and westerns, Louis L'amour is your guy.
