I like it bc it's NOT PowerPoint - it's more like a mind map. I think students would enjoy creating their own - doing character or theme studies.

I see you've read Mary Wollstonecraft's memoirs - is that as a part of studying Frankenstein? It's an amazing literary family tree that she's a part of.

Hi Warrick - are you familiar with Prezi? It's been described as something that will kill off PowerPoint. I had a go on one for an intro to a basic Hemingway - I'd be interested to hear your feedback on the concept http://prezi.com/nx4nu1duitej/ernest-hemmingway/

    Hi Warrick

Have you read any Thomas Pynchon, and if so, would you recommend him?

Haven't read it yet Warrick - it's been on my shelf for a while, and I'll read it soon. My school has changed context - from Id and Belonging to Conflict - which I'll be well prepared for after tutoring an MLC lass :)

OMG- so annoyed at Rosalie Ham! She's done it again- remember doing the dressmaker? and how is was similar to under milkwood? well now she has an Aussie outback interpretation of Pride and Prej!!!! I wish she'd write a book without riding on someone else's coat tails. Plus since Bridget Jones was based on it too its almost like she is trying to gain the same success- I don't think it will work though- wish people would leave my beloved pride and prej alone- doesn't need to be interpreted, its perfect the way it is- lol I'm sure Zoe Edwards would agree- she's lost count how many times she's read it.

Macbeth hey? At patto one of the teachers turned it into a musical- all the lines set to lyrics in the rock Opera genre- I played Lady Macduff and was set to play Lady Macbeth in the overseas cast but left and came to Toorak!! I've still got a copy of the original CD- its really good, even by my standards lol! I should send you a copy one day- it would be a great teaching tool if anything, was a great musical to do as well being partialy original. Mr Herring will remember it- I'm pretty sure he helped back stage.

yeah I love reading when I'm camping- tis hard when my boyfriend comes with his 4 kids though- peace and quiet is hard to find. Got one whole lovely month alone while my boyfriend is off in Kapuka for Army reserve training so I'm getting stacks of reading done (in between giving the house a good clean and helping fight bushfires which keep popping up on these warm windy days) which is awesome, its so nice and quiet- I get time to think and everything!!!! haha, I still read with my highlighter and pencil by my side for when I read the book again some day I feeling making you own markings personalises the book- I love reading books with other peoples notes in it too- its pretty much the closest you can get to being in a lit class or a book club.

Head of English at MLC? I have a Yr 12 Eng and a Yr 12 International Studies, plus YR 11 Eng (doing Macbeth) at Mt Scopus. Stressed out dept last year wondering how to tackle the context section, but I think we conquered ID and Belonging - which is similar to what I did at Hastings High! So - dejavu for me. As well as doing Catcher in the Rye.

Peter Coombs is still OS - at HK International School, and no sign of coming back. It seems that if you work OS past a certain age, it's impossible to return..
