I'm currently reading a variety of YA novels. Primarily because I enjoy them and they are light reading for while school's out and secondly because then I have a wider range of recommendations for my students.

    Hi Warren,

The Host has some themes of love but it truly belongs in the genre of sci-fi thriller. It is very different from the other books that Stephenie Meyer has written, which I'd classify as young adult thrillers.

If you are a fan of sci-fi thrillers, I think you will enjoy the book.

Hi Warren. You know, I thought it was a little slow moving at the beginning as well, but I kept reading and once I got to about page 300, I couldn't seem to stop. I guess I am partial to the story because I am an artist myself, but I'm only about 60 or so pages from the end now and to me part of the suspense is that the events do happen slowly. Now I am anxious to see how the whole thing turns out (lots of people are dying now) just to see if any of those details in the beginning were really necessary to the ending.
It's nothing like Cell, which is what I read before Duma Key. Cell had me turning pages like mad from the very beginning. I guess Duma seems to move even more slowly after reading such a fast-paced novel right before it.

I have read Phantoms, I did enjoy that one. I would like to re-read that one. I haven't read that in probably 17 years! I have not read the Shining. I would like to read that one, along with Misery. King can be a bit long winded for me. But he has some good stories.
I would like to read Koontz Odd Thomas series. I read the first one, but was a bit unhappy with the ending. But I see he has at least two more to the series. Have you read them yet?

Yes I did. Do you like it? It was a medium size plant and I just angled it to make it look that way. Did you take the picture on your profile. I really like it.

I totally understand the rain. We have been flooded in and finally made it out today. Yesterday we couldn't leave the housing addition we live in and had no power. Ate PB&J sandwiches and quickly grabbed some fruit out of the fridge. Our little town we live by is still under water for the most part. Saw National Guard rescue helicopters and they even called in the Coast Guard teams from the Great Lakes.
Hope you found some good books at the store!
