I'm never sure what anyone would want to know about me, or why. I'm a writer, and that's about it - nearly half a century of it, and still drunk on the magic. There's more to be read at http://www.vjbanis.com and one can also click there on my blog and read lots of stories, excerpts, etc. I think I got the "shelf" thing confused; I was posting...more »

just finished the child novel. I couldn't help but be reminded of Bogey/Bacall "To Have and Have Not" while reading. Almost a film noir set to text. I also read the Furst novel. Also a good read. After those two would like a change of pace. Any suggestions?

Well...I think you just click on their profile and there's an option to leave a note...could that be all there is to it? I still think this site is a little cryptic in how it's used. Ah well.
Thanks for the comments on the snippet I sent you...I know exactly what you're talking about and I really just need to knuckle down and write the thing to know where it's actually headed. Will keep you apprised of my progress (or lack thereof). Mwah!

Speaking of Rosalind Russell who is one of my favorite actors ever, I keep some other quotes of hers on my page as well. Like the following:

"Acting is standing up naked and turning around very slowly."

Interesting note about Marion Zimmer Bradley, Victor. I do love her writing, and yes, artists and money rarely go hand in hand I fear.

I have not read Snow Moon Rising, but plan to soon. She had just published it when I took her class at the Loft in writing queer fiction. She has been so helpful in helping me move from story teller and non-fiction writer into fiction.

For others, Victor Banis is a writer's writer. If it is a story to be told, across venues and categories, he will tell it and tell it well.

Hi, Victor! -- we meet everywhere but the grocery store and the men's room, don't we? I'm not good at this blog thing. I don't even have a real one, except LiveJournal which drives me crazy.

How can you be shy about mentioning your books? Geez, you've written more books than God, Old and New Testament. I'm way behind in my reading in general and in Victor Banis in particular, but I'll catch up. Longhorns looks like it's doing great!

I'm looking forward to reading it, and others but especially more about Jackie, the Man from C.A.M.P. Are all the Jackie stories in print now?

    Hey Mr. B!
I finally found your page...DUH! I'm still figuring this site out. How do I add you to my friend list? Hmmm...
