    Hi, Alex:

Thanks for inviting me to join you on your two groups, and I'm really sorry that I have to pass at this time. I am so far over my head in groups now that I find it almost impossible to find time to write. As a writer yourself, I'm sure you can empathize.

However, I do appreciate your thinking of me, and wish you a great deal of success with all your current and future projects.

    Best,

    Dorien

    Greetings Alex,
I just wanted to say thank you so very much for your generosity to share with other aspiriing writers tips on getting published etc. Your web-site "My Unedited Life" presents a wealth of knowledge.

I haven't finished my manuscript yet - the poetry I am going to submit to Flood Crest. As I polish those poems more poetry is written along the way so it slows down the preparation of the manuscript. But, that's perfectly fine by me. I like the flow of energy that comes from writing something new.

I particularly appreciated your point about just getting your name out there - joining as many writer's sites as possible to keep one's name floating around the world of writers and publishers. Great idea! Are you familiar with "Critique Circle." It is a group for writers. In order to have your work critiqued by other writers you must earn points by critiquing the work of others. You just have to keep in mind that some of those who might critique your work could be ten years old or otherwise without experience. I find it great fun to read the works of others and offer suggestions.

Again, thank you for your generosity and empathy!
    Cheers,
    Caryn

    Hey Alex,

Just a quick note to let you know that my novel is now available for pre-order through Amazon. As you know, traditionally,
a writer has to sell 2000 copies of a first book to get picked up for a second book. So, please, please, buy a copy. Hell, buy two if you can :)

    Here's a direct link to Amazon's page:

    Thanks so much!

    Greetings Alex,
How are the sales of your book coming along?

I'm putting together a manuscript of poetry I intend to submit to Flood Crest Publishers. They publish works by new authors - not many books per year but if they told me they were interested and it would take 5 years or so I would accept that! It is so darned hard to get published!

I entered the poetry contest for the Belluvue Review and received an email today that, not surprisingly, I didn't win. I knew the competition would be tough. The darned New Yorker didn't want one of my poems either. LOL I need to start find some of the smaller literary journals and begin to submit there.

I won't submit anything that I want in my manuscript though. The title of my book is "Poetry in Pain." They are poems written during deep stages of depression or when reflecting on some of the realisms of life and the suffering of humanity. I do have much more cheerful poems too.
    Best Wishes,
    Caryn

    Greetings Alex,
How is the sale of your book "Purple State" coming along? I wish there were more I could do to promote it. I did write my review on Amazon.com. I'll see if I can do the same at Barnes & Noble. I hadn't thought of that. I must see if I wrote a review here on Shelfari. I think I did, but, then, I think I did a lot of things I didn't. LOL

It can be so unfairly difficult to receive the aclaim deserved by a writer such as yourself. You are very talented. You worked political figures and issues so smoothly into your book it was difficult to remember that it is fiction (but based, no doubt, on many non-fictions)
    Cheers,
    Caryn
