oh also, you have manga!! Recommend me a good manga series that isn't too long, if you would :) The only one I've read is Death Note and I loved it, but I just don't know which are the great series and I don't think I have the patience for ones that go much further beyond 20-25 volumes.

I ordered The Unicorn Sonata on interlibrary loan a couple months ago, and when I got it I was sooo tempted to keep it and just tell the library I lost it! I was kinda surprised they found it for me and it was in brand-new condition, with all those beautiful illustrations. I did give it back on the due date though. I liked it, but it wasn't among my favorites of his. I had to order The Innkeeper's Song and The Folk of the Air in that way, too, and really wanted to keep those also! Besides The Last Unicorn, I'd have to say either Tamsin, The Innkeeper's Song, or A Fine and Private Place are my absolute favorites of his, it's hard to choose because I love all three so much. I really love the 2 short story collections of his I've read too, his short work is wonderful.

I'm really glad to see someone else who likes his work, I love that more well-known authors like Ursula K LeGuin, Neil Gaiman and Patrick Rothfuss have talked about his work and how great it is. Seems like among literature critics that he always gets a lot of praise, but still remains not as well known among fantasy readers.

You reminded me that I need to add "The Iron Ring" by Lloyd Alexander to my shelf, that was another one I read a few months ago, so far it's the only book of his I've read. I have a copy of "The High King" at home, but I'm waiting to get the first four in the series. I've seen the Black Cauldron movie and I love that it's kind of the black sheep of Disney animated films, I'm looking forward to reading the series. You have good taste :)

Hey Vanessa, I was looking around for other people who like Peter S. Beagle and I saw that you had started a group about him a long time ago. He's my favorite author and there just aren't very many people who even know about him on shelfari! I'm hoping you still use your shelfari page and we can discuss him, I've read several of his books, but started out with The Last Unicorn after loving the movie for years as a kid. I love discussing fantasy and science fiction too & finding people with similar taste. Hope to hear from you.

Thanks, Vanessa. I'd love to join. I have to admit, though, that, I have been a Peter Beagle fan since (gulp) before you were born!! The Last Unicorn is still my favorite book in the world. How do you know Marla Abramson? She is my cousin!

Hey there! I'd love to join your group. A while ago when searching for Lloyd Alexander online, I was disappointed to find that he didn't seem to have an official current website, so I'm glad he's getting appreciated.

its a pseudonym, long=short, to protect myself online. i had meant to email you about my name change for joining, i guess it must have informed you, lol sorry about not being quicker.

always remember my dear nessa that the best lie is the one which is closer to the truth, their easier to remember. BTW what does the green tab in a book mean? i assume it means, 'currently working on.'
