Greetings, and welcome to my bookcase! I'm an English teacher and mother of eight (five sons and three daughters) and grandmother of one precious little girl. I could have read a lot more books, but my kids insist on being fed and taken care of all the time :-)

I tried to add books I've read that I liked or would recommend or had...more »

College life is going really well. I have a ton of time to do extra reading.....and I've definitely been reading tons! I've kinda been reading more teen genre books lately, I think it's because I didn't really get into reading so much until I started Honors English classes, where we mostly read the classics. Did I tell you that I'm working at the campus Law Library! Its all pretty exciting. I really miss your english class too, though I'm impressed with my Comp II English teacher. I actually got a 95% on my last paper. YES!

I'm not sure. There was a scene like that in Sophie's Choice but that isn't really a children's book. I'll check my shelf today and try to find it. barb

I look forward to the day when I'm adding books because I've actually JUST read them, not because I woke up in the middle of the night and remembered a favorite book. I'm also looking forward to adding educational books that I CHOOSE to read rather than those I am reading for a class! C'mon, June...

Don't be surprised if you wake up in the middle of the night suddenly remembering a book you haven't added to your "I've read" section, and you are compelled to get up and turn on the computer to add it!

    THREE classes? yikes.
good luck with those, not that you need it. :)

well according to my sources at depaul i get to get out of TWO english classes because of my score. it was well worth the $84 haha.

also i was cleaning out my closet the other day, and what did i come across but a copy of tess of the d'urbervilles haha. i will stop in sometime during the year to visit and return tess so some lucky student can have the pleasure of reading her tragic tale. tee hee.

ok this has nothing to do with books [i have read an embarassingly small amount this summer] but i had to brag about my AP score because i was expecting a three at most and i ended up with a five, and i'm really stoked.
i attribute this in small part to those stupid essays we had to write in class and in large part to the bag of candy you gave us before the test. so thank you for possibly saving me thousands of dollars and words next year! :D

Hey Ms. Turner. I just wanted to tell you about this cool English class I just finished taking which focused on various ways in which Shakespeare has been adapted to film. We read five plays (Hamlet, Macbeth, Titus Andronicus, Richard III, and A Midsummer Night's Dream) and watched nine movies including Titus and Scotland, PA. It also reminded me to tell you to be sure to show Scotland, PA again this year. Hope everything at Highland is going well!
