Good tale, well told, as usual by Grimes. Could have done without a couple of the distractions, like the animal conversations, that to my mind add nothing, as do Melrose Plant and Joey. nice twist in story, though. Martha writes in that warm fuzzy way that old fashion murder mysteries tend to have, and even when she makes side trips to certain clubs and bars, she keeps it fun. if you like the last second to save the next victim 'thriller' style, steer clear. if you like a pleasant high quality read that plays like a five course meal served on good china at a gourmet freind's house, READ ON!

Ruth has a way of writing that reminds me of eating a melon that is just past ripe. mostly good, but just a little off. I enjoy the mostly good, in most of her novels, but this one had a few more bad spots than i could swallow. i did finish it, but i have to say this the worst of hers i have ever read. save it until there are no more....

Wow! interesting if slightly too self preoccupied to start with, but then it comes and goes like a bad old black and white tv signal, i stuck with it, even though i had to skim the jules sections towards the end, but the concert, the new technology, and the whole crappy story becomes so annoying as to make me want to sue the lady and the pulizter committee for time i wasted on this book!

perfect for reading in the park, while i am watching my 5 yr old play, 2-4 page essays, most of them funny, some make me tear up, and of course his silly southern ludditeness, which was probably heartfelt, is more charming than offensive
