I don't consider him a poet in the true sense of the word, and he doesn't consider himself one, so I would never refer to him as such.

Yes, when the title came to me, I finally made sense of how I wanted to tell the story that was gnawing at me. This is my 28th Bob, and I have seen a couple clunkers, and I know what you mean. Charlie Sexton is back in the band (he from the 2000-2002 glory years). The person I am going with went Tuesday in Rockford and said it is a great show. I posted to your vote thread! I might start a baseball or Dylan thread.

Thanks, Upland. Don't know how much time I'll have this weekend, but I will check out how this works. Going to see Dylan tonight in Chicago. Thanks for the note and have a great weekend.

I just posted Persuasion. So Northanger can be taken down. Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on here at all lately except to quickly update the shelf.

    Hi…

It’d be cool to get James Lee Burke to write you a “This is a great book” blurb on your novel someday. His writing is quite different than mine yet there is something going on there that not only allows me to fully appreciate his subtle variations in technique, but also to absorb many of his finer deployments to incorporate later into my own pieces. :]

Hall’s ‘Thorn’ novels are quite good: in particular, Buzz Cut and Mean High Tide. And yes I knew he taught in Florida and that Dennis Lehanne was his student. You might say that I am one of Hall’s student too—though only through dissecting his novels however. :D

James Crumley was one of Hall’s best friends: he was the guy that pushed Hall to start writing novels instead of just poetry. Crumley is a very good hard-boiled writer and his ‘The Last Good Kiss’ is a classic. But then if you are talking Hard-boiled then Chandler and Ross MacDonald are the best.

I’ve been lucky…I have had a number of conversations (and workshops) with authors of some consequence over the years. Ray Bradbury and Frank Herbert for example.

    :]
