Excellent, thanks @uplandpoet. Although, there is a healthy amount of shame in my self-promotion ;)

Appreciate the guidance for a newbie and I'll put myself in check when I think about where I post.

Hi uplandpoet, One of the characters in one of my novels is a poet. So, as the author all his poetry comes from me.

Hello uplandpoet, Let me introduce why I started writing fiction and ended by writing a memoir. In high school, more years ago than I can count, I took a typing course. One other boy was a member of the class. I learned many things during the time I learned to type, my horizons widened as a result of being a member of that class. So, a few years ago I started to type just to learn if my old skills would return. My computer lacked a bell at the end of each line, but somehow I learned to adapt to the new technology. I spend hours and hours sitting in a bookstore reading all kinds of free stuff while in a chair more comfortable than the one I had at home. I started writing a novel, Slush Pile Inspector, as a result of suffering numerous rejections from my first literary "masterpiece ms" submitted to nearly every literary agent in the guide books. Back to the point, Slush Pile Inspector has poetry by a writer working as a motivational speaker in biker bars. It's of course all original and expressive of the life led by Happy Dan Cycle Man. I like the selection on your books on the shelf.

    Hi Up,

This is written in Farsi-however the English translation would be the one for me.

Thank you Upland I just received your e-mail. I enjoy reading the discussions of all you, (MEF, Beginnings and the gang) literary genius' about books that I know I will never get round to reading. It's good to know that people care about the the truth revealed in fiction and poetry. I'm afraid I'll never be able to join your discussions with references to a hundred different authors most of my reading is pulp fiction, I'm a sucker for detective novels and action hero's and just occasionally to have read a book you discuss is really fun.

    Hello Up,
Quite awhile back I promised I would be able to recommend Arabic books/authors-since one of our local librarians spoke Arabic. Well, turns out she has been on an extended leave and the other librarian I believed spoke Arabic actually speaks Farsi. However, I did discover the following-

    Hope this helps.:)

    Dear Upland Poet
I am one of the 3,000 who has been silent for quite a while -- having to do only with some complicated issues that have consumed me for about two years. (And virtually eliminating reading from my life during that time!) It is so refreshing to glance occasionally at this group and see that you are still at it -- still talking about the authors I love and making me look forward so much to when life settles down again. Here's hoping that our silence is not too deafening and that many of us can re-enter your fascinating conversations very soon! Cheers, Tess

Hey! What seems to be the issue with using the mobile site on your phone?

We're looking into a few issues that have been reported with groups. What browser are you using when the sort won't change between discussion creation/recent activity?

    Thanks!
