I want to invite you to join my group "Book Promotion & Marketing" http://www.shelfari.com/groups/94651/about - This group talks about how to promote and market your books. We also list and discuss the best websites on which you can promote your books. To get free promotion for your books visit: http://www.shelfari.com/groups/94651/discussions/427652
I guess it doesn't make too much of a difference, but I just don't want people to feel obligate to purchase it or even be turned off at the idea of not being able to read it without purchasing it, if you see what I mean. No problem, I didn't want to just give you a flat-out no (I truly didn't mean to ramble that much either!) ^^'
Believe it or not, I actually have never read the entire poem, I've just seen that particular part in a few novels I've picked up and always loved it. ;)
Never had this question brought up before so I honestly haven't given it much thought. Well, we used to have a promotion thread for things such as this but it's not an extremely active group so I just ended up deleting it. As far as nominations go, it's perfectly fine to nominate your own book,... but as your books are only available through Amazon Kindle (correct me if I'm wrong) I just think it might be difficult for some people to get their hands on it. I'm just trying to think of whatever's easiest for everyone. Of course, some people may be able to get it but I'm just not certain how successful it might be as a Book of the Month since there's not much easy access for people who do not use Kindle or Kindle apps. It has nothing to do with you breaching etiquette or promoting your book, I'm fine with that. I don't want to be a wet blanket or anything.
For now, since we don't have alot of authors in the group, I would suggest creating your own thread promoting your work that way. And please feel free to nominate books, we need help in that area. I'd just suggest making sure they are available in book format too. And thank you for asking, most people would probably just go ahead without checking first. And thanks, I found it on a whim. I always have fun finding new profile pictures. :)
Welllll...hmm. We did just discover Melina Marchetta she's an Aussie like you. Friend on goodreads from Canada (really real canada lol) said we HAD to read her. So Jellicoe Road amazing, like reading dreams. Going for Saving Francesca next...then all the rest. Can't believe we didn't know about her.
Have not read Daughter of Smoke and Bone but heard about it at a conference this weekend. That book is major up for some awards...like the big shiny silver stickers on the book kind of awards are coming for that author...so yes must read. Delerium and Pandemonium? have you done those? Ahhhmaaaazing
GRACELING first if you haven't read it. Bad guy...STUNNERperfect...makes you think, 'if I had the power the bad guy was simply born with...could I be anything but bad?' So COOL. (normally I'm a good guy fan but this one was awesome interesting...like The Book Thief narrator. Have you read that mind blower? OMG
But back to Graceling..the LOVE STORY falling in love scene...waaaowww perfect. Starts kind of odd...just hang in, trust. Every time you think you KNOW what's up in that story, it unfolds and you don't KNOW what's up at all. LOVE THAT. So rare. So you are Sue Ellen Holmes? Will have to check out your books. Cool that you have so many. Mom is Anne Eliot, her book is called Almost. It's not fantasy...but gooood (yes biased bc I'm in it...main character's little sister--hehe) It's also my eye on the cover. Shh...we were all low budget and I was in digi-photo at the time so ...yeah...it's not great but works well...but honest, her book is rocking the amazon charts. Total cinderella story over here. It's why we are on shelfari...for her. She started small pub co, butterfly books. We're on shelfari helping the product page info. Mostly for reading and book chat we are on goodreads I'm Yareads. Yesterday...some person totally went in an edited OUT all of our character descriptions, isbn number all that here on Shelfari for mom's book. So mean...so we're trying to be on shelfari more. Rough world in kindle land. Today we will all get our own accounts...so I'll find you and re-friend. Straw might be allowed to do this so if so she will find you too. But I'll have the others find you too. Look for Plum n Peach. Me will Prob will try to be yareads again or something close to our real site and goodreads.
I took over the whole goodreads too. That's only me, bc sharing got to be tough esp now that me and Plum have opposite book loves so we were fighting. (me team Peeta, she team GALE AS IF LOL)
Anyhow...we said we'd all jump on here because yesterday, we got so mad and sad for the mom. She was super bummed. And it just freaked me out that someone would even DO that. Over here we're all about karma, so I'm trying to find some love for sad person who did it, but STILL we're all doing own accunts so That way, if someone decides to go all dark side and delete our stuff 'or EDIT' it out again, then we will all have the same info on our individual accounts and then maybe they won't try to delete it from all our our pages. Or if they do it will be obvious they totally .... SUCK? Who knows cuz we don't even know how shelfari works but we are going to try to figure it out before spring break ends tomorrow. As it was, mom says she's grateful for the mean person because it really taught us a LOT fast. Because we aren't active in here and only having fun on goodreads, we had only one follower here and one person--ME-- had put in the character information on the books and so when that person deleted our one description mom's prod page lost all the coolness in one fell swoop. But if we all had entered stuff individually it would have been more difficult to delete it all? Well that's what I think anyhow so we are going to rally and try. Can't believe people operate like that. We'd never do that to someone's work...eesh. Creeper. Name was 'fleur' so strange. They changed web link and all kinds of stuff.
Anyhow blab blab...it's what I do too much. Going to procrastinate and look at your bookcovers next. K
Ahh...The Burren...well...all honesty we are not in The Burren IE...parents made us chose far away countries or places. The Burren is my dreaming place. My pal who does this with me...is in...er...THE SHIRE. Another...Toronto. The last...well...she's not even allowed FB or to have another country to chose. She shares twitter with my MOM. FOR real. But she's a cool mom. I do wish I were in The Burren though. If that helps? And one day, I WILL go there it's so cool. And we do Irish Dance. You have to check out photos of The Burren. (and officially we are 'friends of the burren' and follow the newsletter, and if ever I make it big, I will donate all my money to them to keep it how it is...YA fantasy perfect setting. Just thought I'd come clean. ) Kiwi--not my real name so don't ask...lol. Just got to yaromance.com you'll see. We started site in 7th grade and parents were NUTS afraid of the whole thing. They're calming down. Slowly. Not counting Straw's parents...they're calming UP. Cool little Alien icon? What is that? Like it.
