I've been a member here for almost 2 years now so I think its about time I update my profile.
Some of my earliest memories include books, starting of course, with the Dr. Seuss books and then moving on to the young reader books. My favorites included:
Never Talk to Strangers...my copy had a purple cover and one of the pictures in the book was a whale named Lucille driving a car. The book was given to me for a Christmas present from my Great Aunt Lucille!
Little Black, A Pony by Walter Farley...I wore my book out and recently bought a mint copy off of eBay... horses! horses! horses! Like most girls I was absolutely crazy about horses and I still love horses and as you can tell that fascination with horses has evolved into anything Unicorn!

and so many others that I don't have room to mention them all.
My favorite thing to do in the summer was to sit under a tree and read a book. I would go to the library and check out 6 books (that was the limit) and go home and devour them and go back the next day and get six more. For the longest time the librarian didn't really believe me that I was reading them and she started quizzing me on them. She soon discovered that yes! I was reading all of them. One highlight of my early library experience was when I was old enough to move from the childrens section to the older reader section.
I was the geeky kid in class who always had my nose in a book, didn't matter if it was a school text book or a novel. I still keep my nose in books. Lunch time at work is reading time, whether I eat at the office or at a restaurant. Reading in my usual lunchtime-eateries has led to some friendships and good conversations regarding books and even some good reccomendations of books to read.
I read across a wide variety of genres, fantasy being my favorite. I also enjoy mysteries, thrillers, history, classics and the occaisional romance and chick lit.
98% of the books on my shelf I own. i tend to buy books at a much faster rate than I read them which makes for very large TBR piles! I hate to get rid of books but finding room for all of them can be quite challenging, in fact, these days it has become apparent that I no longer have room for all of my books so, unfortunately, in the next fews weeks I will have to start letting some of them go. :(
My other hobbies include crocheting, cross stitching, scrapbooking and genealogy, playing computer games (Diablo and Age of Mythology being my favorites) and watching movies of all kinds, comedy, drama, horror, musicals, old black and white classics, to name a few.
I have two grown children, both married now. I also have a 6 year old grandson who is a delight in every way, and a newborn granddaughter. And yes, I am doing my Grandmotherly duty and totally spoiling them :)
I have two cats. One who thinks she's a goat and eats plastic and the other one who thinks she's a dog and fetches and begs.
I was hoping to read 100 books in 2009 but I have fallen short. I think the total will be around 75 books. Ah well, there is always 2010! One of my reading goals for 2010 will be to whittle down my TBR pile as much as possible. This means buying fewer books - such a terrible thought! - but I do have so many already and I really do need to get them read first. Another reading goal for 2010 is to read more of the classics. I have read some but going through the list there are a lot that I haven't read. I also want to read more biographies and more history.
