Books have been my best friends since I was a kid. My favorite thing to do in the summer was to sit under a tree and read a book. I would go to the library and check out 6 books (that was the limit) and go home and devour them and go back the next day and get six more. For the longest time the librarian didn't really believe me that I was...more »

I love John Jakes. I see that you have that as a series book for one of the challenges.

    Do you have horses?

I was just talking about the Bay of Pigs incident a few weeks ago. I'm so bad at history. There's really no excuse for me to be so clueless about my own countries history.

Some of you have expressed interest in being able to post pics of Halloween costumes and such. Well, Katie, Diamondgirl, got the idea of starting up a Yahoo group for the Chiller Shelfari group. We could use it for things like posting possible new avatars that group members could vote on and for voting on monthly authors and such, since that's something we can't really do very easily here on Shelfari.

If you're interested in getting an invite to the new Yahoo group, please send Diamondgirl a private note with your e-mail address.

Don't worry, the Shelfari group isn't going anywhere, we just figured this would be an easier way to do some more things with the group.

    Hey there,

Karilly has sent me a book chain letter in the mail and was wondering if you were interested in participating. Basically what it is is I send you the letter with Karilly (Jennifer's) name and address and you send her a previously loved (used) paperback or audio book. Then you send the letter to 6 people, who then send me a book, and they send the letter w/your name to 6 people. All in all you should get 36 books if it works. I usually don't do this but it's free books. let me know:)

Ahh, so it was somewhat based on a true story? Hubby was asking me, but I thought it was just fiction.

Hi there Unicorndreamer! I just stopped by to see if you've read or plan to read The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. It's now one of my favorite books. I'm spreading the word to friends that have varied reading interests. It's truly an amazing book, a debut novel that's getting quite a bit of literary attention. I would even go so far as to say it's a masterpiece. If you read it, let me know what you think.~E

Holy Moley! How long has THAT been there? Because I have tried in the past (before Shelfari added some new doo-dads) to delete discussions, and I couldn't do it. Thank you SOOOOO much for making me aware of this. Here I've been getting all frustrated with some of Shelfari's group limitations, and I hadn't explored everything nearly enough. So, that discussion you mentioned is gone -- I deleted it. *Ma does a happy dance without the trout*

Hope you're ready for a Day At The Spa -- I'm about to post the first check-in for the Makeover Challenge. :)

I left two notes here for you about your question for RIT and your problems with your log. *Thwacks self with trout* What I didn't do was come back to make sure either of those messages posted. For some reason the day I answered you, Shelfari was NOT posting anything I put anywhere. So, we'll try this one more time... Shelfari does not give administrators the ability to completely delete discussions unless it's done within something like 5 seconds of originally posting it. So I'm not able to delete your log. I did try, but there's just no way to do it. So, there's no problem in starting a new log and letting the old one fade into the obscurity of previous posted discussion pages. Sorry I couldn't help. Sorry also that all you got for asking me about this was a friendship invitation. Did you get a note with that? Because I sent one, but heaven only knows what the Shelfari message thief did with it.
