This book has really surprised me and although I am not a YA convert, I will grab the next book in this series, once it got going it was fast paced and had teenage characters that I didn’t want to punch in the face, WIN! ~ Under the Covers

Anne Lambert has moved with her dad from her home in Chicago to a small town called Haven, but is Haven any safer than Chicago? More people then there should be keep going missing and Haven is a town full of secrets and monsters, but then Anna has secrets of her own…

Young Adult books and me aren’t the best of buds, they sit there looking all pretty on the shelf and I admit I sneer “Just one more Twilight rip off; as if the first one wasn’t bad enough,” but I decided to give The Better to Bite a chance and I refuse to believe this was because I was enticed by the pretty cover (I probably was). Now that I have finished it, I am glad I gave this book a chance, although it may not be something that I would usually read, I still enjoyed it.

Although I did like it, it did take a while for it to warm up for me and it took me a while to warm up to Anna, I admit at first she irritated me; however, like a rash she grew on me. What kept me hooked on The Better to Bite was the mystery of the town of Haven, although some parts weren’t exactly a mystery I still found the story behind the town interesting and the mystery of Anna’s mother will keep me reading to the next book.

But, as this is a YA of course there is the much used and abused love triangle between Anna and two hot guys from her school each with a secret of their own, their is Brent of the All American good lucks and seemingly nice guy and Rafe the dark haired and dangerous bad boy, I am team Rafe all the way. I hope Eden doesn’t stretch the love triangle to the max and Anna choose (Rafe) quickly.

This book has really surprised me and although I am not a YA convert, I will grab the next book in this series, once it got going it was fast paced and had teenage characters that I didn’t want to punch in the face, WIN!

Faith and Fidelity was a thrill to read. It was a solid M/M romance with a wonderful backstory and incredible supporting characters. ~ Under the Covers

I absolutely loved Michaels’s writing style. The pacing was great, the sense of humor was spot on and most of all, this book had a lot of heart in it. Evan and Matt are perfect for one another. I loved that they both started off in a bad place. Of course, I don’t wish what happened to Evan to happen to anybody, but the fact that Evan found comfort in Matt’s presence set my mind at ease. It seemed like a natural progression to their friendship and I loved that they sought out each other in their darkest times. It shows that love can overcome the steepest mountain. You just need to have a little faith.
I know that others had a difficult time believing that Matt and Evan were both straight men who, for the first time became interested in men. My feelings on this were the exact opposite. I felt that Michaels showcased their inner conflict well. Their confusion was evident in Evan’s self-loathing and doubt and also in Matt’s unease. There was a lot of back-and-forth action because, for them, it’s something they have never experienced before.

Faith and Fidelity was a thrill to read. It was a solid M/M romance with a wonderful backstory and incredible supporting characters. I’m sure Michaels will become a favourite of mine soon.

In CONFESSION, we are back to Caroly’s POV and although I much prefer Didier’s, I thought McKenna picked the most suitable POV for what happens in this book. Readers finally get what they have been anticipating – Didier professes his love for Caroly and it is perfection! The rising anticipation and Caroly’s uncertainty all makes for a wonderful experience and Didier’s words are simply to die for. Achingly sweet and vulnerable, Didier bares his entire heart and the fact that Caroly is stunned and giddy makes me smile every time. I love that neither of them feels worthy of one another or that they can’t understand what the other sees desirable because that to me means there’s still so much they can learn about each other and it’s only the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

As I read this story and all the vignettes previous to this, I felt like a voyeur, a stranger looking into someone’s most intimate and private moments. McKenna possesses a unique talent of inviting readers in and painting a hazy picture that reflects the romantic backdrop of Paris. The intimate setting, the lush surroundings and the bare emotions of these two individuals feel achingly sweet and private, yet I’m entranced, not able to look away. This entire series has a certain allure that is unique and inexplicable. Caroly and Didier’s relationship is the ultimate love story and it’s not even close to being done.

CONFESSION is searing love story that is both sweet and sexy. It is Romance in all its glory. With stellar writing, well-developed characters and a very, very strong romance, this is not a series to be missed!

I have a feeling this will fall in a vault in my mind where all the other generic PNR books are currently stored, never to be remembered again. ~ Under the Covers

Elle has spent her 300 years as a Grimm trying to forget her Michael, Not-So- Charming Prince from her mortal life, but it looks like her time for avoiding him is done. They have a mission together but the feelings Elle thought she had faded come surging to live as she looks in to Michael’s gorgeous green eyes.

I find this book/novella (it was very short) hard to review, as although it was okay it just didn’t hit the right spot for me. There was nothing bad about it, the sex was hot and there was a little bit of everything, threesome, anal sex, rough sex, sweet sex…which is alot to pack into a book this size! And because of all the sex breaks the token plot never felt that urgent either.

I just found I didn’t really connect to any of the characters and I have a feeling this will fall in a vault in my mind where all the other generic PNR books are currently stored, never to be remembered again. This book just wasn’t for me, it was a quick read that was written well, but neither the plot or characters held my attention.

I loved every second. I laughed, I cried, I squirmed and had some rather deliciously naughty dreams that night. Loved. It. ~ Under the Covers

Lissa, High Priestess of the Goddess and Saber a much feared Touch Kindred warrior have loved each other since they were young, but because of the antiquated laws of their planet they can never touch or be together. However, circumstances out of their control have them working together in Yonnie Six, a barbaric planet where men are bred as nothing more then slaves and to fit in Saber a powerful warrior must submit to the usually shy Lissa. They must play their parts to perfection, the fate of the universe depends on it, but can they hold themselves back from showing the passionate but forbidden love they both possess for one another.

Whenever there is a new Kindred book out I know I need to set aside the day as there isn’t a chance I will do anything but snuggle up with Kendra the Kindle and read it cover to cover, and this time was no different; I got my supply of Diet Pepsi and grapes (I am on a diet, usually it would be salt & vinegar crisps) and got to reading. I loved every second. I laughed, I cried, I squirmed and had some rather deliciously naughty dreams that night. Loved. It.

Lissa and Saber were just so cute together, perfectly matched and although they did have some explosively hot scenes together, definitely the kinkiest in the series, there was just something adorably sweet about them. As for the kinky factor *fans self* wow, it had me panting and drooling all over poor Kendra…it’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for!

Another reason I enjoyed this book so much was that it tied up a lot of loose ends as this was supposed to be the end of the Kindred series, but luckily there was a note at the end saying there will be at least one more. But as this was written like it was the last, you get to see the conclusion of Draven and the horde and also meet Lara’s clone again. We also get to check in with all the other couple to see how they are faring, I love to check up on a previous HEA!

This book, and this series, is full of humour, super smexy sex and had some damn sexy aliens in it and I am so glad that it isn’t coming to end and I will have at least one more book to look forward to. In the meantime, I am keeping my eyes to the sky and looking out for the Kindred mothership….beam me up!

Kristen Ashley excels is at painting a sweet and spicy romance between her hot males and kooky females, be they werewolves, Rock Chicks, vampires, police officers or bikers, and this book did just that and I devoured every page of it. ~ Under the Covers

Sonia Arlington has always been a bit…weird, her sense of hearing, sight and smell are all heightened and she an uncanny way with animals, all this she must hide, afraid that the world will think she is a freak. She also has re-occurring dreams about her wolf and a handsome man; her dream man, and even though she knows he isn’t real she longs for him. Callum is the King of Werewolves and Sonia is his mate, even if she doesn’t know it she was born for him, they even have a Prophecy stating they are one of the three couples that must meet to save mankind from being subjugated, meaning there is more at stake then just their hearts…

What a relief!! Although I worship at the alter of Kristen Ashley, I really really didn’t like the first book in the series Until the Sun Falls from the Sky, Lucian, the hero rubbed me the wrong way, HOWEVER, I would just looove to rub myself all over Callum the sexy werewolf and hero of With Everything I Am. He was a classic Kristen Ashley hero, arrogant, high handed but leg splittingly sexy and gruffly sweet.

What I love about these books (and all Kristen Ashley books really) is that although there is a massive plot to enslave all humankind what it unashamedly focuses on is the romance going on between Sonia and Callum and doesn’t really go into the whole humans-as-slaves thing. For some people I know this may sound odd, but where Kristen Ashley excels is at painting a sweet and spicy romance between her hot males and kooky females, be they werewolves, Rock Chicks, vampires, police officers or bikers, and this book did just that and I devoured every page of it.

With Everything I Am was a really enjoyable read, with humour, romance and some fabulous characters to get stuck into, I really hope this ends up being more then a trilogy and some of the secondary characters get a chance at a book as well *hint hint Kristen, in case you are reading!*

Once again, Peterson does an amazing job in this fabulously told novella, ramps up the hotness factor, and leaves the reader ecstatic with the growth between Tuck and Owen.” ~Under the Covers

I absolutely loved this book! “Battle Buddy” was the story of Tuck and Owen meeting and getting together, told from Tuck’s point-of-view (POV). After reading Tuck’s “diary” of events in “Battle Buddy,” Owen decided he wanted his story to be heard as well; hence, us very lucky readers now have “Tuck & Cover.”

For me, I love reading books written in first person POV. I feel like I become more connected to the main character telling the story, and I feel for him/her so much more than I normally do when written in third person POV. Not always, but a lot. The downfall to first person POV, however, is that while we get to hear what other characters might say, or see what they do, we miss out on their thoughts, their insight, and the inner workings of their actions. Well, Peterson has so graciously provided her readers with both. We were able to closely connect with Tuck in “Battle Buddy,” but now in “Tuck & Cover,” we get to hear Owen’s thoughts about falling for Tuck, and all that he was thinking throughout his time in Basic and Rangers’ training, and the processing of his attraction for Tuck.

What I found interesting is that while Owen loved to do things to drive Tuck mad, he was going through some of the same internal grief that we previously saw Tuck having. Owen has known for a long time that he was gay; however, from the time of early childhood, it was engrained in him that he would grow up to be an Army Ranger, and that is what he sets out to do. But his attraction to Tuck has other plans. So as much as he tries to focus on his training, to fulfill his Ranger dreams, Tuck keeps coming to the forefront of his thoughts, and finally, he gives into that attraction.

The beauty of “Tuck & Cover” is that while we get Owen’s POV for a lot we saw in “Battle Buddy,” Owen takes it a little bit further, so we get new aspects to their story as well, and holy hot tamale, are those some fabulous parts!! We see Owen in a role that he doesn’t often portray, but he sums it up so beautifully: “And hey, I found out that day I had a new kink. Power Bottom!” Oh yeah!!!!

In addition to the very, very hot sexy time, we get to see more wonderful development between these amazing fellows. Their chemistry is off the charts, and their antagonistic, but equally playful, interactions are great fun to watch unfold. They are also so very sweet with each other, especially with their non-Christmas presents to each other.

“Tuck & Cover” doesn’t finish the tale for these Rangers, but it ends with a teaser of where their story takes them next. Once again, Peterson does an amazing job in this fabulously told novella, ramps up the hotness factor, and leaves the reader ecstatic with the growth between Tuck and Owen. I am waiting on pins and needles to see what happens next!

“Readers get to see how perfect a connection between Dom and sub can be.” ~Under the Covers

The fourth installment in Michele Zurlo’s Oasis series is a full-length, developed tale. Her previous stories in the series give an introduction to the world of Oasis, a wish-fulfillment business that caters to granting the perfect fantasy. Lydia is the new wish-coordinator at Oasis. She’s a focused, professional woman with a past…an encounter with a man she’s never been able to overcome. He is the Dom that she’s longed for ever since, that’s left her always wanting more. How can Lydia be in the business of fulfilling wishes when she’s clearly so unfulfilled herself? The management of Oasis requires her to make a wish of her own. She wants to sub to a Dom, experience submission to its fullest extent. But without emotional attachment. Little does she know how deep she will fall.

Wilder Burke, son of the founders of Oasis, has been assigned to grant Lydia’s wish. He also happens to be the Dom Lydia connected with eight years earlier. When they both agree to embark on this journey together, the pull between them is unmistakable and readers get to see how perfect a connection between Dom and sub can be.

Having read all of the previous installments in the Oasis series as well as Re/bound (one of my favorites!), I was very excited to see Wanting Wilder as a full-length story. The concept of wish-fulfillment in a BSDM erotic romance can be a bit cliché, so I was pleased that this tale transcended the stereotype by capturing very authentic and complex emotions. It’s easy to understand Lydia’s motivations and fears. Wilder comes on strong and makes those of us who are submissive at heart just melt. Or catch fire. The scenes that play out are hot and leave you wanting more and more, with scenes of BDSM that range from bondage to flogging and more. There’s nothing too edgy for those that aren’t lovers of heavy BDSM. This is more about the emotional and psychological journey of two characters, played out through realistic scenes and dynamic communication. The dialog between the characters is so authentic and spot on. I find that to be one of Zurlo’s strong suits and makes reading her stories very effortless. There’s a lot of room for this series to grow and I’m looking forward to the next installment.

I loved that, above all, Aiden still loves Katy throughout all this. Readers definitely feel how potent and deep his love for Katy runs and I think it will only make the series much more interesting from here. ~ Under the Covers

If you haven’t read DEITY yet, then DO NOT skip over to read Aiden’s novella. You will not have a clue of what’s going on. And you will most likely spoil yourself and you don’t want to be sad because of that.

ELIXIR is from Aiden’s POV and I’m not sure how I felt about the switch in this novella. I understand that it works very well from a storytelling POV because you definitely cannot tell a good story from Alex’s POV considering her current state, but I don’t think I ever truly got invested in Aiden’s POV with this novella. I liked it, but didn’t fall entirely head over heels for it.

I think part of it is because whatever progress or decision was made to move the plot forward seemed to take a step back again by the end of the novella. Certain things happened, but I don’t think they necessarily pulled the plot forward. A lot of it seemed stagnant and we got to see Aiden’s torture over seeing Alex there, but not really (if that makes any sense at all).

One thing I did love about this novella is the fact that Aiden stays true to his character throughout. Oftentimes, when I read a story where events occur that the characters have no control over, they lose themselves and suddenly become this grand hero who saves the world. Aiden isn’t completely like that. Yes, he’s strong and yes, his opinion of Alex is skewed because of his relationship with her, but he is still the level-headed Aiden we were first introduced to. I loved that Armentrout kept his personality consistent given that he is in a tough position, making choices for Alex now that she can’t. I also loved that, above all, Aiden still loves Alex throughout all this. Readers definitely feel how potent and deep his love for Alex runs and I think it will only make the series much more interesting from here.

One of my favorite Holiday reads this year!" ~Under the Covers

This year I've had the pleasure of discovering the talented Katie Porter. I've really enjoyed their Vegas Top Guns series, they are great stories and VERY erotic. However, although I was very excited to start reading this book, I didn't know what to expect of them writing m/m.

I can't say that I consider myself an expert in the genre, but I have read quite a bit of it this past year and I find that sometimes the feelings don't translate, or that they feel forced.

Well, I'm more than happy to report that this was not the case with CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR. It really surpassed my expectations for this book! I usually try to start reading some Christmas themed books right around this time of the year and they tend to be extremely sweet. Now, sometimes that's the charm. Other times, you just want to be able to spice things up. And that's what this book brought in spades.

Kyle Wakefield comes from a rich and influential family in Virginia, he's producing a movie filming in London during the Holidays. But even this far away from home, his past is going to come crashing right into him. Ten years ago, he was a teenager struggling with his emotions and with discovering that he was gay. He had the fortune of finding his soulmate then. Nathan Carnes was a kid from the wrong side of the tracks, he didn't have the position in society nor the money. And he was never ashamed of who he was. He was openly gay, proud of it and maybe a bit in your face. But everything changed when Nathan ended up in jail and their relationship fell apart. Kyle has been in the closet ever since and hasn't talked to Nathan either. Except Nathan is now out of jail and leads the stunt crew for Kyle's movie.

Kyle and Nathan reconnect from the very beginning. And from almost that moment, I was completely enthralled with the story. They've both hurt each other. They're both continuing to do it. But in the end, you can see how they are vulnerable and fragile. How they need each other. I was rooting for them from the get-go, just as Kyle's business partner was.

They are polar opposites, which I also found perfect. Kyle is refined in the way he acts, speaks and dresses. Always wearing expensive suits. And then there's bad boy Nathan, with his Doc Martens and leather jacket. And then things get even hotter when Kyle wears a collar for Nathan.

A story of a second chance at love. It was bittersweet to see that they'd lost all these years of being together, but it was worth it to see the intensity of their feelings.

CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR is one of my favorite Holiday reads this year! It's an intense ride from beginning to end, full of non-stop action, sensuality, chemistry and mind-blowing sex. Perfect to warm up the chilly winter nights.
