This was one of those few times when the 1 Night Stand series did not deliver what I wanted. ~ Under the Covers

THREESOME SWEETNESS is a short story, and a part of the 1 Night Stand series. Not really a series, more like an idea and then stories continue on with that concept. Basically 1 Night Stand is an agency that will facilitate anything you need to make your fantasies a reality.

In this instance we have Elizabeth and Todd. Happily married couple, or so it seemed. Elizabeth is the part time manager at a pub in Ireland, and her husband Todd works too much. As all relationships that go through ups and downs, they might be going through a lull in their sex life and Todd decides to spice things up with a threesome as a birthday present for his wife.

He brings him the help of 1 Night Stand to find that perfect third. Cade is an american cowboy on a business trip looking to blow off some steam and maybe just the perfect addition to their sex life.

Now, while some things worked for me in this story, some just didn’t quite hit the mark. This was one of those few times when the 1 Night Stand series did not deliver what I wanted.

While I love the marriage that needs help storyline, I didn’t think they played the saving card correctly. From the very beginning of this threesome, Elizabeth was not into it and almost felt like a get-through moment instead of an enjoy the hell out of this experience moment.

I really didn’t get Cade’s motivation. He’s got money, he’s got girls, and he has the love and affection of someone back home that he’s overlooking. I didn’t get what he was finding in this setup, especially when it was clear Elizabeth wasn’t as into the whole idea as she should’ve been and limits started popping up.

In the end, like I said, I’m a sucker for an HEA where an already married couple works through their issues and gets to a new point in their relationship where they are back in love again for a little while. So that was my favorite part about this story. Now maybe I’ll have to continue on with this story to find out what happened to Cowboy Cade.

THAT…. WAS AN ABSOFeCKINLUTELY GRATIFYINGLY GOOD STORY! ~Under the Covers

Hometown Girl is the prequel in Bad Boys of Red Hook Series and what a wonderful start. Set in Brooklyn but with a small town feel, this novella is fun, sexy, romantic and nothing but enthralling. I can’t be believed Ms. Kaye hooked me with this six chapter story. Elyse Fitzgerald had set her mind in losing her virginity to a date she hardly knows. But luck is on her side when she sees her long time crush Simon Sprague. She has been in love with him as long as she can remember but all he saw was his little sister’s best friend. Will he get passed that image of her and finally give her the time of day?

Simon is a sexy bartender and artist extraordinaire. Taking his art serious he works at night so he can paint and sculpt during the day leaving no room for any kind of commitments. Well, a blast from the past will most definitely change his views where relationships are concerned.

I was blown away by Simon and Elyse’s romance. Though it happened in a short period of time, they had a connection that rooted from their past making their romance believable and realistic. Ms. Kaye did a great job pulling this couple together without feeling like there was an insta-love between them. No, the only thing instant was their attraction for each other. Yeah, these two made some steamy scenes together. And Simon’s image had definitely made a permanent imprint
in my brain. *image of rock hard body, with low hung pants, shirtless walking across his loft is playing in my mind*

The only thing that bothered me was Elyse’s decision to finally lose her virginity. Seems a bit irresponsible for someone who has worked hard to keep her virginity then just lose it to someone she barely knows. Don’t get me wrong this bit of annoyance did not deter me from loving this book.

Any author that can deliver a gratifyingly good story in only few chapters deserves a good round of pimping. So here goes…I can tell you right now, you will not be disappointed by picking up this book. With very little commitment, you can get a good dose of sweet and sexy in your system and maybe even get you hooked enough to pick up Back to You (Book 1) which I also enjoyed.

It got my attention from the very beginning and didn’t let me pull my ereader down.” ~Under the Covers

There is just something about this series that I always enjoy. The characters and storylines are always fun. They’re not long stories, but usually once I start them I can’t put them down until they are finished. And SNOW BALLS was no different. It got my attention from the very beginning and didn’t let me pull my ereader down.

A few reasons why…I thought JJ was adorable. I just wanted him to be my friend and hand out with me. His character was so conflicted because he’s a little…flaming, for lack of a better word. All fluttering hands, giiiiiiiirl let me tell you about it, and into interior design. Works at the art gallery and on occasion likes to dye his hair pink. Nothing much manly about him, except his size. He’s built like a football player which is why the guys he’s with are always putting him in the dominant role of their relationship. But he wants the opposite, someone to take care of him for a change.

So when Ryan Star shows up, a cop who just moved from New York, and sparks start flying, Ryan decides that he’ll pretend to be very macho to catch Ryan’s attention.

It goes to show that you should always be yourself, but also that thanks to that chance JJ took, he was able to find love and make a difference, not only in his life, but also Ryans’.

Ryan is the hero most women die to read about. All bad ass cop, with some emotional issues and hang ups, the kind of tough guy you want to fix. Except he’s so very interested in JJ even though he made it a rule not to play around with anyone in the vicinity of where he works. See, he got put back in the closet after something bad happened back in New York. And yes, there is just something way too hot about a guy in a uniform with guns.

Their relationship develops slowly and builds on their attraction and trust. I thought they had great chemistry and complemented each other perfectly. And don’t get me started on their physical chemistry because there were no problems in that department.

Now if I could only make one request……PLEASE GIVE JERRY A BOOK. He needs one, he deserves one, I’m dying to read his HEA.

This was another fun Christmas read. ~Under the Covers

In the second of The Smutketeers Present: A Kinky Christmas Carol three story novella, we meet Tim Crichton, a video game entrepreneur who keeps his distance from love. He’s not interested in any “forever’ scenarios and guards his heart accordingly. Miranda Girard has loved Tim for what SEEMS like forever! When she finally gets up the courage to show him how she feels, Tim puts on the brakes and Miranda is mortified. When she runs into Tim’s temporary roommate and friend, Peter Vaughn, at a bar one night, they make a plan to stir some jealousy at their upcoming reunion dinner. Little do they know that Tim’s resistance has worn thin and his feelings for both Miranda AND Peter are becoming difficult not to act upon. Peter and Miranda have some serious chemistry of their own. When the three of them get together, it’s anything goes!

This was another fun Christmas read. I felt for Miranda, her embarrassment in Tim’s rejection and her need to spark some jealousy with the sexy Peter Vaughn. Peter is a dominant in his own right and watching him and Miranda play was hot by itself. She has a secret of her own that she’d rather not come to light. When Tim is thrown into the mix is when the heat turns up. The m/m/f threesome has a little bit of everything and the dirty talk is super sexy. I really enjoyed learning about Tim’s past and his reason for keeping his distance in relationships. It was authentic and touching. Overall, a very satisfying and erotic Christmas novella with a nice HEA.

All I want for Christmas is Adam Becker!!!! ~ Under the Covers

I’ve always been a fan of Toni Blake but I think she really stepped up in this story. HOLLY LANE is Sue Ann’s story and for readers who have followed the Destiny series, they may be in for a little shock when they realize that the hero is not Sue Ann’s husband, Jeff but actually his best friend, Adam!

In the previous books of the series, Sue Ann had the perfect life. She has a great husband, the perfect little daughter named Sophie, a beautiful home and a great job that she enjoyed. But then suddenly, Sue Ann’s life is turned upside down when she learns that Jeff has fallen in love with another woman and wants to leave her. The divorce is swift and Jeff’s decision to marry his new girl, Ronni is even swifter, causing Sue Ann to lose her balance for awhile.

In an attempt to calm down and brood a little (as she is entitled to do), Sue Ann decides to rent out a cabin for herself during Thanksgiving weekend to just relax. Unfortunately –or fortunately, depending on how you see it, fate has other plans for her. In comes the grumpy Adam Becker who usually rents this cabin out at this time, but by some miraculous mix up, Sue Ann ends up in his cabin and the only way to keep warm through the blazing winter storm is to have smokin’, balls-to-the-wall, burn-my-fingertips-hot sex!

“Then he was situating her hips, pushing her down onto him, and making her cry out at the intense delight of being so forcefully filled.”

That is just a tease of why I love Adam Becker so much! The first sex scene is one of the sexiest I’ve read in awhile and I think it’s because Blake nicely displayed Sue Ann’s hesitation, her curiosity and her excitement, together making it about letting loose and forgetting about what wrong has been done to her recently. I rejoiced as this happened because what Sue Ann endures is tragic and has the potential for her to become bitter.

As I was reading this book, someone asked me how I felt about Sue Ann. Did I think she held back for too long, not trusting Adam fully with her heart? For a second there, I thought she did. After the stunt Adam pulled on Christmas morning, I really thought Sue Ann would see just how amazing Adam is, but when she didn’t, I got scared. But that was promptly swept away when Jeff barges into Destiny again with Ronni, showcasing just how fragile and hurtful this experience is. HOLLY LANE spans approximately a month and there is no way Sue Ann could go from missing the presence of her ex-husband to suddenly loving his best friend so quickly and in a way that was believable. I think Blake did a great job of showing readers the up-and-down journey of experiencing betrayal and learning to trust once again, because it’s not so easy in real life, why would it be so simple in a fictional novel? I admire the effort Blake put into this novel not just to make this a sweet and fun holiday-themed novel, but one that has substance and a whole lot of heart too. I adored HOLLY LANE to bits so much so that I believe it is my new favorite holiday read ever.

P.S. We also get updates on Jenny and Mick in this book! Some parts broke my heart but I still loved it!

I liked that she [Maria V Snyder] has created a genuinely strong female lead who manages to not only save herself most the time, but to protect the people around her; too often supposedly “strong” female characters still need the male to come along and save the day. ~ Under the Covers

Avry is the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, making her valuable to friends and enemies alike, but with the exception of the man she loves, Kerrick, they all think she’s dead. But the insane King Tohon grows more powerful, especially as he can command an army of the dead and Avry must come out of hiding and do all she can to help stop him despite her fear of him. Meanwhile rumours of another invasion abound and Kerrick must return home and do all he can to stop it, leaving Avry all alone…

In Touch of Power the first book in this series, I remember it being very similar, too similar, to her Study series, the characters and the story were too close and although I enjoyed it I was a little disappointed. However, I am glad I carried on reading as although the similarities are still there Scent of Magic seemed to breakaway and form its own identity.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the story, Touch of Power was just a warm up to get to the real action in this book, I found couldn’t wait to see what would happen next and what the characters would do as war starts to break on the Fifteen Realms. What was also great was the characters, especially Avry, I liked that she has created a genuinely strong female lead who manages to not only save herself most the time, but to protect the people around her, too often supposedly “strong” female characters still need the male to come along and save the day.

This book also switched POVs from Avry to Kerrick, and although it was essential and interesting to see what was happening on the other side of the Kingdom, I felt that it switched over far too often. You would just be getting into what was happening with Kerrick and then it would go back to Avry and although I feel the switched POVS did add to the story, it was frustrating as they felt so short.

I really liked this book and am really getting into this series, it has all the things I love about books, fantasy in particular, adventure, magic, great storytelling and romance. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

In the 6th installment of the A-Tac series Dee Davis is at it again, this time with Simon and his story. Now Simon is no average Joe when it comes to being in battle, hell he has the scars to prove it. But when Jillian aka J.J un-expectantly comes back into his life and into the chaos the A-Tac team is in, Simon finds himself caught right in the middle of it all. Dealing with terrorists is a piece of cake, partnering with a long lost love to take them down may prove to be his biggest challenge yet.

After losing her husband, J.J. decided to get her life back on track. Now working for Homeland Security J.J. finds herself in the middle of a fight between terrorists and the man who stole her heart, Simon. Will she be able to fight the battle with A-Tac and within herself to finally let go of Simon once and for all? Or will she be consumed by him like she was so many years ago.

Davis’ writing style keeps you submerged. You feel like you’re right there as each shot is fired and each explosion is detonated. And not only is the story interesting but the love story between Simon and J.J. is believable! Unlike most couples, these two are adults! They know they have something, they know they have issues to work out but they also know that in order to stop a terror attack they must push aside their issues and work together.

What’s even better about this couple is their chemistry. Simon and J.J. are hot for each other all the time! Each touch and stroke is like fire running through their veins. The mere sound of the others voice has them discombobulated. I love it!

If explosions, gun fights and fast paced action are your thing then Double Danger will have you turning pages faster than you can blink.

If you’re not reading for the hot sex or the fun characters, then you should read this series for its worldbuilding. It stretches the bounds of the imagination! ~ Under the Covers

FIREDRAKE is book 5 in the Dragon Knights series and it seems that D’Arc is delving deeper and deeper into this wonderful word of dragons, magic and passion! After returning home after fifteen years, Drake discovers just how much he has been missed. His dragon partner, Lady Jenet couldn’t be more happy to learn that her knight has returned to her. However, Drake still doesn’t believe himself worthy enough to be her true knight. This disappoints Jenet a bit, but she will take Drake any way she can get.

First off, I LOVED JENET! She is such a sweetheart! I adored how protective she was of Drake and how sweet and childlike she seemed to be in some cases, but then fierce and noble in others. She was definitely my favorite character in this book by far!

One thing I loved about this book is that there are so many main characters, but what’s interesting is that D’Arc introduces them individually and then makes you fall in love with each of them AND THEN makes the character fall in love with each other. This is part of the reason why it takes awhile before the main characters Mace, Drake and Krysta get together, but in the end, I thought it was worth taking the time to get to know them individually first so by the time they fall in love, readers already have established a connection with them.

I thought the threesome relationship in this story was believable. Though Mace was far more easier to fall in love with than Drake, I thought Drake’s side of the story added more appeal to the story. It was enjoyable reading from his POV.

In addition to the steamy sex and the great characters is the fact that D’Arc seems to reveal aspects of the world with each new installment in this series. Things I never thought possible are being uncovered and it makes me wide-eyed with excitement to see the world continue to grow. In this book, we discover gryphons and learn what a Firedrake is. We encounter wizards and more dragon species! The world just keeps getting more and more interesting and I love how much there is to this world. If you’re not reading for the hot sex or the fun characters, then you should read this series for its worldbuilding. It stretches the bounds of the imagination!

Agitating and heartwarming all in one colorful package.” ~Under the Covers

When Pierce Waverly, the Earl of Devonmont receives a letter from his mother’s companion that says it’s dire he sees his mother before it’s too late, Camilla Stuart has no idea the trouble she has set in motion as she lacks the knowledge as to why the Earl has been estranged from his mother and feels it’s more his petulance than anything else that keeps him far from Lady Devonmont.

Pierce has not had an idyllic upbringing. Having been sent away to a boarding school at eight years of age by his indifferent father, the late Earl, he blames both his parents for their abandonment. Once his father passes away and Pierce becomes the Earl of Devonmont, he purposely distances himself from his mother and anything having to do with his family. He has a bit of a reputation as a rake, but he truly isn’t happy with his existence.

Widow of a pastor, Camilla Stuart has become an essential part of Lady Devonmont’s household, but when she oversteps the boundaries with the Earl and his mother, she may put her position in jeopardy and that would be a very bad thing considering she has her six year old son, Jasper to think about. Unbeknownst to the Earl of Devonmont, his mother’s companion has been hiding her son from his household and his manager for fear she would be dismissed.

Once the Earl arrives and discovers his mother is not at death’s door as he believed , Pierce wants to take the widow to task for her deception and run as far as he can from his mother, but when Camilla and Pierce strike a bargain so that Pierce stays to have dinner with his mother, a series of events are set into motion that not only throw Pierce in his mother’s presence, but finds him seeking out Camilla’s company. Even better, when the Earl finds Camilla’s hidden son, he must set aside the animosity about his own childhood to be in the company of the endearing little boy.

The more time Pierce spends in his childhood home, the more facts begin to come out about the abandonment he went through as a child. Pierce struggles with his ill feelings towards his mother, and a budding relationship with the intoxicating Camilla, but can the Earl set aside his pain and let Camilla into his heart, or will he ruin the only chance he has at true love with his blatant disregard for propriety. Of course you will have to read T’was the Night After Christmas by Sabrina Jeffries to find out.

I really enjoyed this holiday themed book by Sabrina Jeffries. T’was the Night After Christmas is agitating and heartwarming all in one colorful package. Watching the difficult Earl lose his battle against forgiveness is a wonderful ride. Camilla’s little Jasper chips away at the ice that has formed around Pierce’s heart to allow him to become the man he always should have been. Camilla, although a meddling chit turns out to be a savior of sorts as she stands up for herself after having an equally disturbing childhood as the Earl. Her demand for respect is refreshing and only adds to the charm of this tale.

It’ll put you in the “right mood”. ~Under the Covers

I like this series because it always manages to deliver a very hot and engaging story while still being short. I find them perfect for in between full length and maybe a bit heavier books because it’ll put you in the “right mood” *wink wink*.

So the third story is about Cole Landon, pro soccer player, who is currently injured and in need of physical therapy so that he can hopefully go back to his job fully recovered. He’s the guy from the wrong side of the tracks, soccer has given him a certain status that he didn’t think he would ever get. And maybe that’s why he feels now he can get the attention of girls he wouldn’t have been able to think about when he was younger.

And first on that list is Haley Jones. His high school crush who was always out of his league. Except now that she’s his therapist, he may have a chance.

Once Haley and Cole come together, they are hot and heavy….Did I mention hot? I liked the fact that there was some previous history at least of the attraction in the past, because that always makes these short stories more believable to me. Ms. Fox usually is good at that and this series always featured this type of scenario.

Then there’s the fact that I really liked Cole. He’s tough and alpha, self made, he’s fought to be where he’s at and improve himself. And he’s now going full force ahead for what he wants. Haley.

I’m not sure if this series ends here or if there will be more shorts to come. Even though this might’ve not been my favorite of the three, I’ve had a great time reading each one of these stories and can’t wait to see what Ms. Fox comes up with next.
