I'm an avid reader and book addict. I love everything about books, the way they feel in your hand, the tactile expression of a fine leather bound classic, even the smell of a fresh cut paperback. If this sounds a little overboard to you, that's a good thing. I'm not interested in any one genre of books, I truly like everything. I can think of nothing better to do during my free time than to hunt for rare books at a used book store.
It all started in Ann Arbor, MI, where I grew up. Book stores abound in this community famous for the University of Michigan. There are numerous book stores there on every block, from used book stores to new book stores. Even Borders got their start in Ann Arbor. I can remember riding up the escalator in one of the early Borders incarnations on State St. as a child. There's a couple of great used book stores close to State St. too, Dawn Treader and Dave's Books.
Since that time, I've lived in Chicago and most recently Tucson, AZ, and presently moving to the San Francisco Bay area later this year. Had there not been a Bookman's in Tucson, I wouldn't have survived here as long as I did (two VERY long years). I'm not leaving Tucson with any kind of nostalgia. It never grew on me and I didn't find much about the place I liked.
A little more about myself, besides books, I love learning foreign languages. I speak/read/write Japanese and Chinese, can speak reasonable Spanish, and have a working knowledge of several other languages. I'm also a photographer. I'm into all kinds of music, not excluding any genre there either. Martial arts, some toy collecting, science, robotics, round out the rest of me.
