Tyler, I'm glad you enjoyed the Penn Cage series, it's one of my favorites. I just finished the "Lyonesse Trilogy" by Jack Vance and must say I was totally enthralled by the storyline and richley devolped characters. My next Jack Vance series will be "Demon Princes" which I'm hoping I will be able to find at a reasonable price. I am currently reading the collection of short stories that were published at the turn of the 20th century and titled "The Autopsy & Other Tales" indited by Michael Shea which is classified in the sci/fi/mystery/horror genre. Most of the stories I've read so far are great but some are just average and a few are poor. Overall I'm truly enjoying it because of his incredible imagination which makes many of his stores somewhat bizarre and creepy but sprinkled with humor if that makes sense. Shea had a major influence on Jack Vance. Anyway, good to chat with you again, READ ON...

Tyler, I think you would love: "Triple Cross" by Mark T. Sullivan as well as the Penn Cage Series by Greg Iles. his series consists of 3 books "The Quet Game," "The Devil's Punchbowl," and "Turning Angel." On the fiction front check out "Tales of the Dying Earth" by Jack Vance is perhaps the quintessential collection of sci/fi fantasy/adventure stories ever written by one of the most revered and awarded authors to write in this genre. The words that come to mind when trying to describe his incredible achievement are: wondrous, magnificent, epic, spellbinding, dazzling, exquisite, inventive, wordsmithery, magical, elegant, enthralling, engrossing, imaginative, original, mellifluous pacing, atmospheric backdrops, transformational, fantastical storylines! I read the first story in this collection when i was 11 years old and the others in the ensuing years. Over the years I have read the collection over 20 times, each time reflecting on the joy it brings me and its life changing impact on my reading addiction. Just imagine being able to transform written words from your minds eye into life-like visions and you will then understand the sensual impact of Jack Vance's brilliance! Ironically, because of its unique qualities I have always been protective and therefore reluctant to expose this truly fabulous literary experience to others for fear of diminishing its value to me...a misguided supposition I know, but true never-the-less. So, if you want to take a journey into the unknown and wander through the beautiful worlds as penned by a master scribe then you will want to read this incredible collection of stories and revel in their beatific perfection. Storytelling at its best; a masterpiece......Enjoy and READ ON

Tyler, I've come across an incredible, entertaining, and just plain fun fantasy/adventure series that I think you will really enjoy and that I'm rating as the best of the year in this genre. It's titled "The Riyria Revelations" by Michael J. Sullivan. You may also like "The First Law Trilogy" by Joe Abercrombie which is an adult fantasy/adventure story. Merry Christmas, enjoy and READ ON...

I can see that I was impatient! (Nothing new there!) Maybe I'll go see the movie of the first Dragon Tattoo chick then read the second book - that seems like a plan.
Do you read Greg Iles at all?

Hi Tyler. I am just at the very beginning of Dragon Tattoo, while trying to slog through "Banktown" - a book about Charlotte Banks. We will eventually be reading "Banktown" for my book club, and I am finding it extremely boring, yet informative since I know absolutely nothing about the world of high finance. It is definitely slowing my reading pace, since I can only read a couple of pages at a time. Have fun reading through the trilogy. I'll be doing it by Christmas hopefully.

While I don't know if these are mind blowing books I would recommend Daniel Silva's series featuring Gabriel Allon. I think there are 8 books to the series but I always suggest beginning with the first one, The Kill Artist.

I am halfway through The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid and am really enjoying this title. I was born a little before the author so a great deal of the book is reminiscent to me. I do recommend this title and will look for the book you recommended.

Tyler, you're more than welcome, I'm delighted you are enjoying this exceptional trilogy as much as I did. You might also really enjoy Lee Childs "Jack Reacher Series" with the first book being "The Killing Floor" as well as Greg Iles "Penn Cage Series" which consists of three books so far: "The Quiet Game," "The Devils Punchbowl" and "Turning Angel." Happy Holidays to you and yours! READ ON...

Hey Tyler, sorry for my late reply.. Yop, I'm still reading this book, I thought it will be great, but I'm little disappointed too... It took me a lot of time, because it's lengthy story.. well, the style of writting is very good, but completely I'm not enjoying this book.. I even read other book meanwhile. It called Eleven minutes by Paulo Coelho and it's a really good story, short, interesting with many nice thoughts and quotes.. ;)

    Hi Tyler,
We have quite a number of books in common. Are you going to the Harry Potter movie? We booked our tickets months ago for Saturday - can't wait! Chamber of Secrets was my fave. I love snakes! I see you've also read Sail by James Patterson. My first Patterson was Swimsuit, which was way cool and then I took Sail on holiday and it was so ordinary in comparison! I thought he would be a new find for me, but I've pretty much given up on him. I love YA novels, so if you look at my shelf, you'll see lots of those, but I'm always looking for decent adult fiction, so feel free to make suggestions! I quit Girl With the Dragon Tattoo partway, sorry. I'm very impatient with books, it has to be said, and I usually only read a few pages before I quit if it doesn't hijack my life.
    Fiona :)

Tyler, I agree, he's one of my favorites. I'm reading "Black Cross" right now and love all three of his "Penn Cage" series. I've also discovered Christopher Reich and have taken a liking to his stories. I started to read "The Poe Shadow" but since I have the mass market edition I found the print font so small that I can't read it, grrrrrr. I also just finished "Worth Dying For" which is the sequel to "61 Hours" by Lee Childs. I think it's the best in the Jack Reacher series so far. For a few laughs I read "Swim the Fly" by Don Calame and "Youth in Revolt" by C.D. Payne and I still chuckle when I think about some of the hilarious teen phrases and behavior. READ ON...
