Hey there Earth and its fellow Earthlings. Marslings and Venuslings, hello to you to. My name is Mikayla. I go by just "Kayla" and my best buddies call me "Mickey". I sAy JuMp, YoU sAy HoW hIgH?The words in the English language have yet not developed that can describe how reading feels, to not one's mind, but to one's heart. I am not one to say that magic does not exist, as I strongly believe magic does, indeed, thrive in the corners of this universe, but book magic does indeed exist. And there is proof for that.
Call me kooky if you want, crazy if you dare, and a lunatic if you are one yourself. But that is who I am, if kooky, crazy, and a lunatic all describe a person who believes in magic. After all, is there any evidence at all that a magical force in the world doesn't exist? How are people to know that we aren't all the muggles in Harry Potter's world? One day, the secret is sure to leak out like that last drop of water struggling to escape the tap, and when it does, I can go to every single person who called me a crazy, kooky, lunatic and yell "I TOLD YOU SO" straight into their bold, daring faces.
Describe reading in three words. Can you? I believe not! If a person asked me that question, my response would be," Emotion. Inspiration. Dream."
With the flick of a page, reading can transport anyone, and anything, into a whole new world. You could be fighting off an army of gleaming armor-clad knights, drowning in an alligator-filled moat, or even haunting an old, abandoned castle right by your very own desk. Indeed, book magic is a curious thing.
Now before you all burst with this great wisdom, these pearls of knowledge floating from my mouth, let me tell you all about myself before you go off and tell everyone you know, "Mikayla is a crazy cockpot."
Sports and Other ActivitiesI have to tell you, I am not the most physical excelling student in my class. No one is going to come and say to someone else, "Wow. Mikayla is an awesome tennis player!" or "Did you see that spectacular catch Mikayla made?" But that doesn't stop me from enjoying sports! (Although I'd much rather prefer being considered good at something.)
*Swimming roxx!!!!!
*Basketball rules!!! (On an all-girls team at least)
*Tennis is cool
*Track is awesome!
I have to say, though, I am pretty good at both basketball and track. I am the fastest girl in my class and I play awesome defense on basketball.
I enjoy singing in the choir, my favorite colors are purple, blue, and green (yup I'm the "cool" girl) and I love country and pop music.
I'm 11 (almost 12!) and in sixth grade (and lovin' it!)
But most of all I
love to read!!!

I have no books to read! Had a chance to read Flipped, but decided I wouldn't like it (I'm not an awfully romantic person) and so I put it down the return slot. I know its not possible for me to have drained every ounce of magic out of all the books in the world.... but it sure feels like it right now. Any suggestions???
Keep dreaming and reading!
Mikayla
