I am on FB. I shall have to check it out. I just finished reading the Lost Symbol and just posted by review. It was ok. I would rather read the 2nd installment of Steig Larrson's trilogy. Now his first book was interesting reading.

Will you go again next summer? It must have been fun having a teacher's only component.

    Michael,

IU haven't been good about checking this site. I am in the middle of our sixth week of school already and looking toward parent teacher conferences next week. I have a great group this year and am excited about the way they are receptive to new things. They make great connections. I have used a couple of ideas already from your book Classroom. THey have loved them.

    Michael,

Thanks for being moved! To fulfill your curiosity a bit, we're a brand new literary magazine based in Brooklyn, NY. We recently launched a book trailer for a story by Jim Shepard, which is published in our current issue. You can see that and a few more one-sentence animations (sentences pulled from stories in the issue) at our youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ElectricLiterature

Hope we continue to peak your interest. Thanks for being our friend!

    All the best,

Hi Michael - doing great. I am at a conference and loving it. I know what you mean about being exhausted - school started for us back on August 10th - so it has been non-stop since then - you just have to love what you do or the people you work with in order for it to be worth it :)

Checked out your site - awesome. I didn't realize you were such a celebrity :) I am going to have to order your book. #1 - cause I LOVE to read #2 - cause it is about Italy #3 - cause I can share it with Lisette (she will want to read it too).

Going to have to check out your site again - there are a lot of things that I found fascinating.

Take care!!! Hope you missed the Tornado :)

I'm doing two sessions with my friend from SUNY NewPaltz: "Self-mutilation, Dirty Photos, and Blow Jobs: Facing Your Fear of Teen Lit" and "Holocaust and Genocide Literature in the Classroom: Reading the Language of Hatred and Hope. " If nothing else, they are GREAT titles.

    Yep - I'm a Facebooker too

    Hi Michael -

We've been in school since the middle of August! In fact, we're doing our NWEA testing right now.

Just wondering what your "go to" books are for the kids who don't like to read. I've got a few I use, but am always looking for more!

It is one of the best books I've read in quite some time. The author is unlike any I've ever read before. I couldn't put it down & finished it in one weekend during a road trip. I heard many people raving about it this summer so I read the summary and found it intriguing. Sure enough, it was incredible. I haven't read a book so well written in a long time. I was sad when it ended since I had fallen in love with the characters and the story.

School is wonderful; we are sending the MOST wonderful thoughtful young teachers out this year! Just got your book and I can't wait to begin. How was you summer trip? So do you ever make IRA? I'd love to meet you in Chicago this spring. I'm really excited to be presenting at that conference since our son lives there and works at Second City.
