My favorite audiobooks of 2008 (yet):
************************************
Snø vil falle over snø som har falt (But.. why is the audio level so low? Or my car so noisy?)
Erlend Loe - Volvo Lastvagnar (Most amusing. Might as well be substituted for Muleum.)
Vindens skygge - Carlos Ruiz Safon (Intriguing story!)
Victor Hugo - Ringeren i Notre Dame (The best plot evar?)
Jonas Lie - Familien på Gilje (An amusing read by Per Aabel)
My favorite books of 2008 (yet!) (rated by readability and amusement factor):
*****************************
Small gods - Terry Pratchett (His mastery of linguistic puns is unbeatable)
A spot of bother - Mark Haddon (Most readable and entertaining!)
Measuring the World - Daniel Kehlmann (The bizarreness alone makes it worth reading)
Crusaders trilogy Jan Guillou (yes, yes, I know, it's three books...)
The gun seller - Hugh Laurie (A great first novel, and has a better plot than all of Stephen Fry's books put together ;)
My favorite books of 2008 (yet!) (rated by literary quality and credibility in conversation factor):
************************
East of Eden - John Steinbeck (a bloody classic.)
Vindens skygge - Carloz Ruiz Safon (Like East of Eden, this book has a brilliant way of telling parallel stories)
One day in the life of Ivan Denisovitsj - Solzjenitsyn (Readable and important!)
The Double - A Petersburg poem - Fyodor Dostoevsky (The starting point for both Crime and punishment and Hamsun's Hunger? Cannot be bad.)
My most disappointing reads of 2008 (yet!):
***********************************
Ecce Homo - Friedrich Nietzche (I made a new personal best by giving up after less than 10 pages)
Gert Nygårdshaug - Prost Gotvins Geometri (but.. I wanted it to be good, I really did!)
Honningkrukken - Gert Nygårdshaug (pseudo archaeology will never amuse me)
The unbearable lightness of being - Milan Kundera (this is surprisingly dull!)
The Great Gatzby - F. Scott Fitzgerald (this was just... not gripping in any way.)
