This was a different kind of book for me. I thought it was fascinating to get into the mind of an autistic child, but the story lacked enough depth for me to give it five stars. Still, I'd recommend this as an interesting change of pace for most readers. It is very readable, and is a "murder mystery" (if you consider killing a dog murder) and you will learn a good bit about autism while reading an enjoyable book.

I could not finish this book. The writing was stilted and generally not readable to me. The plot seemed interesting, but the writing style coupled with the unbelievability of the characters at the beginning of the book left me simply not caring about the story, or characters. You have to have one of three things to make a book readable: Good writing style, good characters or good plot. This book almost had a good plot, but it was buried with poor writing and wooden characters. I do not recommend this book.

Sometimes I read a book and it feels "narrow." By "narrow" I mean that I feel like I am reading a story that is kept to tight confines by the author - the world in which the characters live is not expansive and not realistic. This book is one of those books.

It is also a bit unrealistic from time to time as the author drives the plot forward with bad decisions (like not getting help from the Police, or not asking why someone is being held hostage or not immediately killing the person who discovers the hostage, but instead putting them in a James Bond style situation that they have time to escape from) and unlikely scenarios.

That said, it was still enjoyable as light reading with an interesting story and a somewhat clever twist at the end. I'd have given it 3 stars, but I've read some really bad stuff lately, and anything that I put down and consider an enjoyable (even if flawed) read gets four stars from me.

This was a bit different than the usual Koontz formula, and is more like the Odd Thomas series than his usual works. But it was still an interesting story with a clever twist. Overall, I'd recommend it.

Not your typical Hogan work - this is non-fiction. It will be reviled by liberals, and perhaps conservatives as well. If you are building an ark to get you through global warming, then you will HATE this book. If you think for yourself, and like to challenge "accepted ideas" then this book will be provocative for you. I enjoyed it.

A little preachy, but Grisham is prone to that from time to time. Overall, his usual "very readable" work with a good solid story. Recommend.

I like Grisham's writing style, so I rarely hate one of his books. This is somewhat typical of his style (or formula, if you are so inclined) and has plenty of intrigue, mystery and a twist or two at the end. If you like Grisham, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy The Partner as well.

Very good suspense thriller. Who is killing the jurors from an old trial? Meanwhile, you get a lesson in how to run a small town newspaper and watch a young man grow into a society-contributing adult. Excellent reading as usual from Mr. Grisham.

Good solid Grisham writing. There is definitely a little bit of preaching going on here, but it is justified and accurate and adds to the story. You might be frustrated by it, but it fits the story. Highly recommend as I do with most of Grisham's works.

Outstanding Grisham work. I very much enjoyed this one and found myself rooting for the bad guy because he wasn't as bad as the good guys in many aspects. Clever plot, clever resolution to a tough situation and as usual with Grisham, a great read as you make your way to the end of the book. Five stars and highly recommended.
