Cindy Lynn

Hello!

I won't attempt to shock you with the revelation that I'm here because I love books, but the truth is, books are a huge part of how I identify who I am. I read widely, and try to balance the fluff with some intelligence. I once (or twice) have likened reading to sitting down to a huge buffet. There is nothing wrong with...more »

I have never known anyone to be as diehard a Barbara Hambly fan as I am. I found her Darwath Trilogy when it first came out and have been hooked ever since. I even made it through her deep depression in the series following Dragonsbane. Demon Queen nearly put me under so I am glad that she seems to have recovered. We also share a lot of other book interests, and since I am new to Shelfari, I am astounded at how close you can feel to a total stranger who loves the same books you do.

I like the Hamblys you mentioned, but I really think my favorite is the Darwath Trilogy--actually, it's not a trilogy anymore, since she's added a couple.

Next week I'l lhead to the library and see about a Free Man of Color. It's always great to anticipate a new set of books. Just have to get thru the new Harry Potter before i move onto something new.

Thanks for the compliment on the dress! When reading historical romance I get a litttle frustrated by costume descriptions. Even more frustrated by how easily the hero undresses the heroine. Gosh! What a waste of an opportunity for foreplay! Undressing the heroine layer by slow layer could be as erotic as the actual act itself. Sigh.

I've read quite a bit of Barbara Hambly and she has excellent attention to detail without overwhelming the reader. I believe I'll love her B January series. I think the first book is Sold Down the River. Is that right?

Wow! I love a lot of the books on your shelf. I do a little costuming in the SCA and I have a hsitory degree. I think I'm gonna have to check out the Benjamin January series.
