I love to read, mostly historical romances, but I also like to read contemporary, paranormal, and suspenses. Since my book budget is very limited, I have found a great source of sharing in Bookmooch.com and PaperBackSwap.com.

Bella Andre successfully weaves an engrossing tale of passion, humor and drama. I feel that the past conflict between Ty and Julie blends into their mindset of the present smoothly, allowing me, as the reader, to empathize with them and more understand their attitudes toward one another. Both have their own predigests against the other to overcome, which allows them to grow and learn each other, making their relationship all the more heartwarming. And it doesn't hurt that the combustible passion and sexual tension between these two is enough to set the pages on fire, causing me to pause and fan myself. I also enjoy the sense of humor thrown into the story, keeping this from being to dramatic and over-the-top and giving the characters more dimension, making them realistic and extremely likable.

I love Lisa Kleypas' contemporary voice. The depth and perception she brings into the characters is outstanding, you feel as if you know them personally, as if you could call them up on the phone to meet for lunch. She brings you into Haven's life, making you feel and understand her emotions and what drives her to be the person she is. I laughed out-loud, sniffled a few tears, was incredibly ticked-off at the “meanies”, and sighed with passion as I read this engrossing tale.

I like knowing the whole story behind a character, following her throughout her life, not just catching bits and peaces in flashbacks or conversations. I love following Haven through her struggles, knowing that what she will find is a new beginning, even if she takes the long way to get there.

And Hardy, oh what a man, he is so dang yummy! We first met him in SUGAR DADDY, where Liberty Jones (now Travis), had a huge crush on him growing up. He was always such a gentleman, who even then knew what he wanted. We had a rather upsetting taste of the man he grew to become, but fortunately it was a shallow taste that didn't delve deeply into the reasons for his actions. Now we learn how he redeems himself. He's a man that knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. He is very confident, yet he faces his own fears, and strives to overcome the man his father was, to be the man that he is.

Haven and Hardy's story is very emotional. It touches more than just two ordinary people meeting and falling in love, but two people who've faced unbelievable conflicts, and have battled their way to the top and to each other.

I love Lisa Kleypas' historical and contemporary works, and greatly look forward to visiting the Travis family again in the future. To learn more about her books, you can visit her on the web at: www.LisaKleypas.com.

  • Promises Reveal (Berkley Sensation Historical Romance)
    • Rated 5 stars

I absolutely LOVE Sarah McCarty's westerns, and with the much anticipated PROMISES REVEAL she has truly outdone herself, creating characters that really get into your heart, making you anxious to solve their conflicts and find the love they so richly deserve. And her smoking hot love scenes are so emotionally charged that you may just find your own body heating up, imaging just what the Rev can do for you. She hooks you into the story, drawing you into the lives of all the characters, eager to see how the Rev and Evie make their marriage work, excited to catch-up with past friends, and curious enough about other characters, that you are now fervently awaiting their books to come out!

Having “met” Brad, a/k/a the Rev in the previous Promise books, I couldn't wait to find out about his past, to see what created the man, and to learn what kind of woman would be right for him, I was not disappointed. Evie is the perfect woman for him, just what he needs, someone who he can enjoy a certain wildness with. I was annoyed with Evie's spoiled attitude, and her habit of jumping to conclusions early on in the book, but soon learned that it was a part of her that she was going to grow out of in her discovery of her love and trust in Brad. It was a great trip watching Brad and Evie find themselves, especially seeing Brad overcome his vulnerable side and learning that he really is worthy of love.

Though this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone book. Having read the complete series, I was surprised how Sarah drew me into previous characters that I had no liking to prior to this, drawing new dimensions to their personalities that made it possible to hope for their own stories in the future. Nidia was someone I absolutely loathed, but now I can't wait to see what is in store for her, to see if maybe she and Elijah can heal each other. And Jackson, I'm glad his book is next, he

  • The Lost Duke of Wyndham (Two Dukes of Wyndham, Book 1)
    • Rated 4 stars

I can't remember the last time I read anything quite so delightful as THE LOST DUKE OF WYNDHAM. Julia Quinn has such a wonderful talent for creating sensually sweet romances, that you can't help but fall in love with the characters.
Jack is definitely a charmer, I absolutely love his easy smile and great sense of humor. Grace is also extremely likable, she's smart, sensible, sweet and not too stubborn, and I really enjoy her sense of humor, which she definitely needs to put up with the dowager.

While Jack and Grace have many wonderful moments together, that made me fall in love with them as a couple, and to see them as a perfect fit, two of my favorite scenes do not involve them together, but with each of them sharing some humor of their situations with the two other people most affected by the truth, Thomas, the current duke and Amelia, his fiancée.
I laughed out loud when Grace and Amelia were together in the carriage with the sleeping dowager, trying to out do each other with naughty phrases to describe their situation, and when dowager reaction to hearing them upon her waking. I also chuckled at Jack and Thomas, as they were discussing whether or not the dowager really need to continue to live with the real duke, or could they possibly send her to, perhaps the Outer Hebrides. And arguing over who had the privilege of scouting such a place.

This was a great read, and I'm eagerly awaiting Thomas and Amelia's story, MR. CAVENDISH, I PRESUME, which will be available in October.

  • Tall Tales and Wedding Veils
    • Rated 5 stars

TALL TALES AND WEDDING VEILS is an entertaining romp of what can happen when you take a chance on fate. Jane Graves successfully blends passion, humor and heartache into a charming tale. The witty dialog keeps the story clipping along at a smooth pace, making it difficult to put down. Tony and Heather are perfect for each other, they just need to figure it out.

Tony, while being a die-hard bachelor, has a heart of gold, and would never see anyone hurt, especially Heather, though I want to smack him upside his head when his shallower self tries to poke through. Luckily for him, Heather is there to straighten him out. I really like that Heather, while not a knock-out beauty, is confident in herself and her intelligence. I particularly like the surprises that Heather's family continuously spring on the unsuspecting couple.

  • Scream for Me

WOW, Karen Rose has created a sickly twisted plot so engrossing that I found it very difficult to put this book down. She blends and weaves the elements of suspense and terror so well that I had to remind myself that the killer was fictional, and I am not in the story! Her brilliant characterization of Daniel, Alex and the various other people kept the book realistic. Though Daniel and Alex have both lived through terrible events in their lives, and now, while they are faced with even more terrifying events, they are still able to experience some good emotions and love. They are a couple that are easy for a reader to understand and really like.

I'm glad that I had read DIE FOR ME right before I picked this up, because, even though SCREAM FOR ME is a stand-alone book, there were many references that were helpful by having read the previous.

I can't wait to pick up another Karen Rose book!

I found DELICIOUOUS to be a fascinating tale written in a very eloquent style. Sherry Thomas successfully uses profoundly erotic and seductive descriptions of food as a way to explore the emotions between Stuart and Verity. I am disappointed though, that she did not put more emphasis on the characters' interactions themselves. Stuart and Verity didn't even come face to face until halfway through the book. Sure there were a few flashbacks of the one night they'd shared together in the past, but I really like to see more present-tense interaction between the hero/heroine.
The second half of the book finally brought them together, allowing us to finally see there feelings without food descriptions getting in the way, and I found myself absorbed into their storyline, able to finally take my focus off the side characters and food (this book made me hungry...).
There are many scenes in the later parts of this novel that really tugged at my emotions, more that once I felt my eyes welling up with tears, like when it felt as if Verity's son Michael was going to dismiss her from his life and when Stuart finally realizes that she is the woman from his past that he couldn't let go, and he feels such anger towards her. Everything came together well, if a bit dramatic and I was pleased with the conclusion of Stuart's engagement to Lizzy, sure it was a bit hokey, but it was also satisfactory.

  • Nauti Dreams (The Nauti Trilogy, Book 3)
    • Rated 5 stars

Lora Leigh has created a seductively sizzling, action-packed tale filled with passionately powerful characters which gripped me from the beginning, and only barely let go at the end. I loved the Nauti series and Natches and Chaya are definitely my favorite couple. They have both survived brutal pasts, and with each other are able to overcome their pain and sorrow and finally find peace and happiness, with lots of steamy, sensual sex to boot.
I'm glad that I had read the previous stories, though this book can be read as a stand alone, it really helped knowing the background of all the characters and situations. I found NAUTI DREAMS to be more fleshed out than the previous Nauti books, creating more interaction between all of the characters. It also lead to a higher sexual tension that I just couldn't wait to see fulfilled, and WOW, when things finally came to be, the pages began smoldering, and I was in need of a bucket of ice to cool me down.
I loved the humor thrown into the story, like when Dawg and Rowdy burst in on Natches and Chaya, and Chaya laughing her head off at the absurdity of the situation. Though my absolute favorite part of the the book was when Zeke, the local sheriff, was telling Natches that he need to protect Chaya, and Natches reply was “It's my job to watch her back while she does her job. You don't change what you love , Zeke, or you never loved it to begin with.” There is nothing better than an alpha knowing when to back away and let his woman do what she needs to do, and to know when it is time to step in.
I love this series and can't wait to read the next installment to the Nauti series, there are more than a few characters I think still need a story, like Alex and Janey and possibly Rouge and Zeke- I felt each have a story in them, maybe not together, though I think a match could be made.

  • The Mistress Diaries (Avon Romantic Treasure)
    • Rated 4 stars

I love a good “accidental” baby story and THE MISTRESS DIARIES absolutely fit the bill. Cassandra is a strong woman, who wants only the best for her little girl, I had to admire her for reaching out to Vincent's family in her time of need. She is intelligent, independent, and while a bit stubborn, not so much that she did anything truly stupid. Vincent is such a jerk to Cassandra at times, but knowing the heartache he has suffered in his past made his coldness understandable. It also meant that when he finally accepted his fate he fell hard for her. I love how we know exactly why Vincent is unwilling to open his heart and why he has made certain choices.

Boy when these two got together you could feel the heat emanating from them. Julianne MacLean did and outstanding job penning the tension and the subsequent passion felt between them. She also created some truly wonderful supporting characters, that while playing a major roll in the story, never overpowered Vincent and Cassandra...though made you wonder as to what the future may hold for them, though I hope we have finally seen the last of Lady Letitia, she is very annoying and unlikeable.

  • Before the Scandal: The Notorious Gentlemen (Avon Historical Romance)
    • Rated 4 stars

Suzanne Enoch did a great job with BEFORE THE SCANDAL, I love how the plot and characters flow together. Phin and Alyse are perfect for each other, they have both endured scandal and hardship, and are able to understand each other because of it. They are both very likable and I enjoyed watching them discover each other and themselves, and watching their relationship grow.

The villains are easily identified, but the reasoning behind the trouble is a little harder to figure, and I like how Ms. Enoch worked the mystery.

I also like seeing Sullivan and Bram again, and catching a glimpse of Bram's fear of being to close to Phin's sister, Elizabeth, an innocent, respectable lady. I can't wait to read Bram's story, he seems to be treding a dangerous line in each of these stories, I'm curious to see how he is kept from crossing-over to be a complete loss.
