Trisha J

I'm a sahm to two daughters and two Boxer daughters. I'm very happily married. I'm a full time student studying to get my BA in English. And I'm an avid reader. I'm not happy unless I have a book on hand to read. When I'm not reading, I like to knit, cross stitch, hike, and go to the beach.

I recently started an online book discussion... more »

The second book in the Anita Blake series, it was just as good as the first and makes you want to read them all. I can't wait to delve into the third installment.

Hamilton can write a smart vampire book. I was a little skeptical going into this series but it turned out to be an enjoyable, and despite the vampires, believeable read.

This was a good Gerritsen novel. I was a bit peeved to discover that it was book 4 in a series because I'm a little OCD about reading books in order, but at least I have another series to immerse myself in now.

This installment of the In Death series is definitely in my top 5 favorite In Death books. I really enjoyed it. Meeting Nora and having my copy signed was an added bonus. ;)

Cornwell was the object of much criticism for her views and opinions that she expressed in this book. I thought her ideas were compelling and believable. I really enjoyed this true crime novel and would recommend and read it again.

Magnificent book. I learned so much about Elizabeth I that I never even imagined.

  • Henry VIII: The King and His Court

I absolutely loved this book. I had such an overwhelming desire to visit England and travel on the King's Road after reading it. The intrigues of Henry's court were amazing. Weir has such an ability to tell the history of the royals in such a way as to take you into the story without making it mundane in the way history can often be.

Weir has a knack for attention to detail. I can appreciate that while at the same time I can say that sometimes the story gets lost in the details. I enjoy Weir's work though and overlook that aspect of her biographies.

I enjoyed the cleverness of the story but it's not a favorite of mine. Sometimes, it just seemed to drag on and on. I feel guilty for saying it since I wanted to like the book so much, lol.
