I hope everyone starts feeling better soon. do you all have the regular flu or the heavy duty version? anyway, feel better! I plan on participating in Nanowrimo again this year. I started last year, but didn't finish :( Water for elephants was written during Nanowrimo and so was the beginning of the Forest of Hands and Teeth.

I'm glad you like the bookmark. Just wanted to represent the Fever series while in Dublin!

    I love your new picture!

Ireland was BREATHTAKING!!! As soon as we landed, we rented a car (a risk but I wasn't driving thank God! :) We visited the archeological sites in the Bru na Boinne Valley, Hill of Slane, Monasterboice, rode north to Carlingford for half a day, then rode through the midlands at a leisurely pace. The only midland towns I remember are Shannon Harbor (pop. 35 but has a great pub and all 35 + some were there for craic!) and Athenry (simply great, warm friendly people and another great pub and a very sad song titled Fields of Athenry named after it.) It's so picturesque and the air smells so fresh. It was cool in the evenings and people were burning peat fires which has a unique, earthy smell that is wonderful in the night air. We went to Murrisk and climbed Croagh Patrick, a mountain about 2,500 ft high right on the coast. The view was amazing but the climb was really rough--evening going down. We traveled along the coast, saw the Cliffs of Moher, the Twelve Pin Mountains and took a ferry to Inishbofin. We stayed the longest in Clifden, on the west coast then traveled a windy path back to Dublin. Dublin was a shock to my system after a week and a half of fresh air and countryside! The bustling busy streets and walkways were nerve wracking but after half a day I relaxed into it, even if I did almost get hit by a bus! They stop for nothing and no one! We stayed in the Temple Bar Hotel! What a wild and crazy district, and I can see why KMM chose it, and Ireland for her Fever series. Went to Trinity College and saw the book of Kells, and of course, toured the Guiness Storehouse for the 250th anniversary of Guiness! Did you know Arthur Guiness signed a 9,000 year lease?!! CrAzY!!! On day 1, I didn't like Guiness but I love it now!

Have you been to Ireland? Would you go again? I'm ready to go back! It didn't rain a single day while we were there, and everyone told us it had rained for three months straight, like monsoon season or something, so everyone was out sunbathing and surfing, but it actually felt chilly to us. It's back to work tomorrow, but I hope to have pictures up on my blog soon, if you're interested.

It truly was an amazing vacation. Strange thing, though--almost every place around listened to American country or 70's and 80's music. We liked the small neighborhood pubs that played traditional Irish music :D

Thanks Tricia. I may add Eve of Darkness to my list at a later date and at least try it out. For now I think I have plenty to occupy my time for the next 10-15 years!! Let me know when you start Kushiel, I'd love to hear what you think! Hope your little one is feeling better!!

Tricia, I noticed you read Eve of Darkness. I just discovered this series today and wanted your opinion. I may be an avid reader of paranormal romance, but I was raised a church girl. Being happily married, I allow myself the indulgence of PR. However, I don't like storylines that mock the biblical. What is your take on this book and the whole Eve with the Cain and Abel brothers? Should I skip it?

Hi Tricia! Thanks for friending me. We have a lot of books in common and I see that you've read several that are on my TBR list. I was curious about Jennifer Armintrout's Blood Ties series. I found the first 4 books at once at the used book store and of course had to get them. But I haven't had a chance to start them yet. You've read a few of them. What did you think?

I also noticed that Kushiel's Dart was on your TBR list. That series is a favorite of mine and I have just fallen completely in love with the characters and story. You definately need to clear some time to start that series. Some advice though, the first book is a bit slow starting. The author really sets up the background for Phedre's character. Stick with it. After about 300 pages, I promise you won't be able to put it down. And the first 300, even though a bit tough to get through, your curiosity will keep you picking it back up.

Hee, hee! Maybe you did and I forgot! My reading has really slowed down (buying books and checking them out hasn't) I'm about 3/4 of the way through Dreamfever. It has a different feel to me. I'm disappointed that there are more of whatever Barrons is. I wanted him to be the ONLY one of whatever he is. He says things like "your" world but "my" Dublin. Hmmm. His versions are disturbing, but I just really CAN'T accept that he's a bad guy. When I finish, I will probably start chatting a lot!

I really did mail your books today. LOL! I got a new job and have been so busy. You can keep these books. I have a copy of each.

I don't remember if I thanked you for the wonderful bookmarks. It was such a nice surprise. I especially love the one you can put a photograph in.

Remember the story I have been working on? Look up the book Patriot Witch on my shelf. I almost fell over when I saw in on Amazon Sunday night. It is SO, SO similar to my story it almost made me cry. ALL that WORK! Only mine involved time travel, and a local ghost legend...but still, my hero was going to be a weather mage helping the patriots. I'm at a loss now. At least I know my ideas are decent--I just have them about a year or two too late :(

    Talk to you soon.
