A booklover at heart, I have been reading longer than my memory will go back. I don't even remember learning to read, although my mother recounts that I started around 2. I find books a diversion from reality, and a way to learn how to live on earth. I am fascinated by dark humor, and characters that are somewhat relatable to my current reality.... more »

What a fantastic book! I disagree - you can definitely make sex in a marriage more interesting. Others who have tackled this subject tend to offer cheesy ideas: dress up as a french maid, write each other love letters, etc. Instead, Esther offers a more seductive, holistic view of what it means to be mysterious and sharing your fantasies with your partner. Her real-life case studies were refreshing, and was inclusive of those who were not only GLBT, but were interested in open or alternative marriage agreements. Great read!

I found "The Reading Group" to be a wonderful book about female friendships and the intertwining of lives of a group of women. I found that I couldn't put it down. This book covers a year in the life of a book club, and its' members, and shows how one year of our lives can allow for such amazing personal growth, and how that growth is shared among its members. Wonderful story.

This novel is advertised as being funny, and I would agree with that, but I have a dark sense of humor. The character portrayal is what makes this novel humorous. The Dad's new wife is like some sort of dictator-ish pinky women, and the Dad is some sort of academic nerd, just wanting some company. I really stuck with this book because of character portrayal, not because of the story line. In fact, the story line tends to be slow. Good read!

This book is a wonderful read for those who have recently gone through - or are going through - transitions in life. Bridges speaks about the "neutral zone" - the time period between the ending and beginning (or beginning and ending - he redefines these for us also) - and I find that piece of the book soothing. I think his views on the pace of the world affecting our transitions is refreshing. Great read for those who are pursuing careers or have interest in adult development and self-help.
