Don't know why I even looked this up but after I replied to your post about 'Happiness Sold Seperately' I thought "this sounds like a movie" and lo and behold:From fandango.comA suburban housewife begins to gravitate away from her husband and into the arms of the nutritionist at the couple's local gym in this heartfelt marriage drama starring Julia Roberts and directed by Scott Coffey Theatrical Release Date:TBD
Hey! I know I haven't been on in a while, my computer was temporarily down. But it is back up and running now :-).I finished My Sisters Keeper ove a week ago and it was good. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I couldn't put it down and it was very emotional, on the other hand I was not happy with everything that happened so I don't know. But if you read it I would love to discuss it!!!Really? You didn't like Sushi? I thought it was supposeed great, hmnm, maybe I will read another by her because I do want to try some Marrion Keys.
Yes, I've used Diary of Wimpy Kid (successful). I also have Captain Underpants (some success), Maus (both I & II), Trojan Horse, Bone, and another one that is about a radio station back east somewhere. I still need more (my students read at 1st to 3rd grade level mostly). Thx for taking the time to respond. I am trying desperately to create a culture of reading, but it AIN'T easy!
I'll let you know what I think about it once I'm finished. So far so good though. :)
OMG! A real INTELLEKCHOOL! SO glad someone knows their books. My students are HIGH SCHOOL kids (reading at 1st to 5th grade level). I need high interest/low vocabulary stuff about sex, drugs & rock-n-roll (rap). 80% of our incoming 9th graders are reading at 4th or 5th grade level. I have ESL kids as well--the task is daunting. Any help would be appreciated (I'm familiar with SOME hi/lo stuff; I've got a "Quick picks for reluctant readers" list as well as a "reluctant readers title list."
Thx for the tip. I've got about a gazillion books on my "to read" list, but I'll add Wild Swans.: - )
May I ask where you are a reference librarian? Do you think you could help me with recommendations for reluctant readers? You sound like you know your stuff.
I like reading your blog. It's interesting. I'll think about it. I want it on audio it's easier to read.Stephanie
Well, Toulla. I think this is a wonderful site to chat with like-mind readers. Now alot of my reading is actually research these days, but being part of this reminds the wonderful journeys books encourge.
