    Covenant

    by Brandon Massey
    • Rated 5 stars

    I Declare War!

In Covenant we meet Thorne, a young boy who witnessed a highly terrifying and violent act of crime upon his father while away fishing. Thorne's life is forever changed and now 15 years later, he still keeps that built up hurt and rage hidden in his soul. His conscious constantly reminds him of the enormity of the crime. One particular day, on his fathers anniversary death, a member of a highly, powerful, ruthless, organized group that controls everything from money to power contacts Thorne and tells him a coded secret that pertains to the tragic death of his father. Only Thorne is qualified to decode the secret and on top of that, Thorne will be the next in line to be assassinated and playing a game of cat and mouse to survive only adds fuel to the fire. With his wife and his right hand man Mike, an ex-Marine, who idolize aggressive action to it's hard-core and combat fights which usually ends in another body for Mike to bag, goes in pursuit and try to unravel the truth to Thorne's father murder. Beware, there's an all highly powerful, deceitful, and feared man in town that comes in sheep's clothing that's running his most loyal flock of sheep with Jezebel beside them to track down and take out Thorne by any means necessary.

The intensity to find who murdered his father increases and it's fight or flee for Thorne. The past can't stay buried forever and the guilt gets worse as the truth gets unveiled, but subsequently, Thorne declares war and the streets around him erupts with violence to bring down the most highly powerful, organized, cunning man that the city of Atlanta has ever known.

Covenant by Brandon Massey is a suspense, thriller, eye-opener, and shocker all rolled into one great big novel that will have the leaders of today's church looking at Massey from an awkward angle. The character development were carefully constructed and the story is mesmerizing and believable. Brandon Massey brought out some reals issues to take a look at. I like how Massey told a story through passages. One wouldn't suspect he could go from frightening you to enlightening you with how he delivered the story. Brandon Massesy is serious in telling a story and at the same time converging messages that he actually manages to deliver in keeping the reader enthralled with the plot as well as seat hopping, page turning, mouth opening, blood pumping, mesmerizing portrayal. Some of the chapters will make your blood pressure rise but the final chapter will lower it to where it suppose to be. Pay close attention because this book has so much drama and the way Massey tell the story and reflecting on the goings on of today if your not careful you could miss out on the intertwined message entirely.

Mr. Brandon Massey, I think it was splendid how you told the story and how you captivated and keep the reader in awe but at the same time they will also reflect on a very certain issue of today. You have just set the pace for other authors of your genre to try to keep up and step out of the box and try to enlighten, twist, and entertain your readers at the same time like you did in Covenant. Wonderfully created and 5 masterminded stars.

Massey Readers: 1:17 Thy shall now read and enjoy.

    A Sheisty Friend (token)

Justine, Simone, and Holly are old college mates as well as best friends that have enjoyed a lasting friendship throughout many years. Suddenly, their lives become chaotic, catty, and envious as one of the women fall head over heels in love with a narcotic detective name Lucus. Simone as self-centered as she can get is betraying her friend Justine by going after Lucas and trying to have an affair behind Justine's back. While Lucas tries to get serious and only have eyes for Justine in his life, Simone makes it hard for the both of them. Holly a true friend as a friend can get tries to be the mediator and keep the bond tight between all three of them but at the same time warns Justine about Simone's ways. While jealousy, secrets, and greed threaten to break up friendship as well as love, Lucas and his partner Noah goes on a dangerous hunt for a drug lord name Nine and the stakes gets higher when Lucas tries to focus on this dangerous bust and keep his lustful womanizing ways at bay.

In reading Karma there were editing and grammatical errors. The characters were long and drawn out in the beginning and the author did not catch the reader until way past 100 pages. As a reader I was looking for that climatic moment or that surprise but the story just seemed too predictable and slow. The last 40-50 pages is when the actual action started. I understood the point of some of the plot the author was trying to get across in regards to being faithful, in love, having good and not so good friends but I just expected and wanted more for the plot to develop and lay the groundwork for the title of the book Karma. Being all that is said, I don't think the book is horrible but I advise others to read it for themselves and base their own thoughts and judgement. I wish the author the best of luck on her next book and hope it get rave reviews.

    Excellent Historical Glimpse (token)

Little Black Girl 5 was a page turner. I like how the author started the book off by summarizing the details of the last book. LBGL5 starts off right where book 4 ends and keeps the reader up to par. I can say this historical fiction story is more for entertainment, but still the bases of history gives the reader a glimpse of the times in the 1700's. The story was fast moving and the chapters will keep u turning the pages. One could read books 4-5 first then read books 1-3, but either way the author keeps the readers intrigue for more. Part 5 sequel was great. I can honestly say, Mr. Keith Lee Johnson you have found a new nitch in writing and that's historical fiction. Excellent sequel and looking for more of the historical fiction writings. An excellent job well done!!

    Hood Richest

    That Hood Chick

Beautiful Jayah Carter, a drug lord's daughter has spoiled her with the baddest cars, finest jewels, flyest cars, homes, and top dollars. Jayah is that hood chick that has a attitude of a diva, who will fight at the drop of a dime and still be fly the next minute. Getting in trouble was nothing new to Jayah until a trail of killings leads it's way straight to her doorstep. M.O.E. Money Over Everything is Jayah's anthem until she meets Cheno and then her motto quickly fades and reality soon steps in. Is it jealousy, revenge, or is it the hood chick happily ever after of being hood rich is finally coming to an end?
Hood Richest is the author Michelle Monay's first debut. The plot kept me captivated, and the pages turned fast. Something was happening each chapter which made this book a page flipper. I would still say to the author to pay close attention to the editing and grammar, too too much designer name dropping which was a turn-off, and some events made me roll my eyes more than once which made the storyline seem unbelievable at times. Still a good job and looking forward to the next book, but remember to keep it simple. 4 stars on a job well done!!

    Ice

    The New Black

A life of crime and drugs is the way of Black, and his brother E-Double. Being conservative in his mannerisms, compassionate, and if times call to be ruthless, Black still has a vision to bring down a heartless druglord name Ice, that's now ruling the city of Elizabeth, NJ. Black recruits his cousin name Woo, and his childhood friends whom they soon become the Eastwick Hustlers. Ice being heartless and ruthless rules the Port Au Posse Prince and the drug game with an iron fist. A bloody war is about to break out while the Eastwick Hustlers and the Port Au Posse fight for territory. Crooked cops and politicians hold the court to who will reign, but also holds the key to who will get the final downfall.

The book of Ice is a tale of power, greed, lust, loyalty, and even family values. This book moved fast, the plot was good, and the characters stood out. The story has been told before about the struggle between two druglords, but I think what makes this story unique is the message some of the characters portray about education, doing what's right, and forgiveness makes this book a lasting impression. The final showdown between Black and Ice could have been more thought out, but the author did try to step out the box and make some of his characters unique, although the author did go over the top with the religious voodoo. I would caution the author that there's a fine line to draw on how to write the believable and unbelievable and on that note the ending for some may leave somewhat of an unbelievable impression. This book offers a great deal of violence, but it is balanced out with humor. For it to be the author's first read I commend him on trying to step out of the box and keeping his readers intrigued. If you like to read shocking action, druglords, and shady cops and politicians, the book of Ice will make it a worthwhile read. *4.5 Stars on a job well done.*

    Trickery

    Trick or A Treat

Taj Jenson, has the clothes, money, cars, and a hustle that let's her perform sex acts with girl on girl action while the men watch and spend their money. Taj learns money isn't everything with noone to love or share it with until she catches the eye of San, a beautiful female, that enjoys to watch the sex acts just as much as Taj performs them. For Taj it's love at first sight and before she know it San have her wide open. San and Taj become great friends, lovers, move in together, and share each others world until Taj feels her old ways is still beneath the surface and she's not ready to give them up. Suddenly, something drastic happens and Taj's whole world come crashing down and money is no longer the answer but keeping the love of her life is the key.
Trickery was a glimpse into the life of what and how far and low a girl sometimes have to go to survive. The storyline gets very intense and the author keeps the reader entertained with the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed the book but I felt the book was too short and could've been a few chapters more. Trickery has it's fair share of sex, violence, action, twists, and turns you'll be shaking your head long after you close the book while all along eagerly anticipating for the author to hurry and release the sequel. A job well done for the authors debut novel.

    HusH Setting The Pace

I was very skeptical at first to read this novel, but after hearing all the buzz about it I decided to go ahead and give it a try. The novel did start off slow but that was just for the reader to get their bearings stable, because once the novel picks up the emotional roller coaster ride won't stop. The author inserts small plots regarding each character throughout the book that will lead you up to the final character development. The author Amaleka MCcall does an excellent job with this one and is setting the pace to bring something different to the Urban Street reads. Character development, suspense, mystery, twists-turns, and breath-taking moments is in this read that will lead u all the way to the final chapter. Amaleka MCcall has stepped out the box with this one, and I have to say what an excellent job done. I highly recommend this one for everyone, but I caution you wisely Hush will not be a read u can be quiet about.

    WOW!

This book will blow your mind, it will make u angry the entire story, and will have you asking yourself questions and telling yourself u wouldn't of took this, She had so many times to do away with the masters and why didn't she, because if u think we were outnumbered, and it was the logical thing to do to go on living like this if not for yourself for the others around you. Looking at today times it will make u wonder how far we have come and to be blessed
