FYI, I don't support the ads shown on my page! I love art, reading and writing but don't get to do much of it these days because I have too many children. I'm a book 'theme binger', so am currently creating my own mini library on Marie Antoinette and the French revolution. Also have most recently acquired multiple books on Amish quilting, as... more »

Always make a little time for yourself, to read, relax or do what you like. Do it for your family. If you don’t, there won’t be anything left for you to give back to them.

I'm new to the group, tell me how this group is run and what I can do to help and be a part of this learning experience. I collect quilting books, material, supplies and once in a while finish a quilt. Most often starting something new, Currently working on learning paper piecing and will donate this quilt when finished to St Pat's Hospital in Missoula MT Trish

I just joined your quilt group and enjoy reading the entries. I have a ton of quilt books I haven't loaded onto my shelf yet. You were asking for quilt photos for the group photo. I consider myself a quilt artist, too and have quite of few photos to choose from if you'd like -my favorite is my most recent dolphin or surfer girl quilt photos. Or I have a photo of my bunny quilt for Easter. I actually got it published in this issue of Quilter's World since it was a variation of one they ran on the cover last year. How do I upload photos to the site? - Sandi M

Have you seen the new Quilting Arts special issue? I read it yesterday and thought of you!! Also watched the Kirsten Dunst movie last week....somewhere I saw a promo photo for that movie that featured a pair of pink high top sneakers....I wasn't sure if the film would remain true to the period or be a la the Leo Di Caprio, Claire Danes R & J.....I was pleased, really a great pic showing that then IS now, etc....they didn't need IPods and Starbucks to make her relevant......now if only they could bill it as something historically important to watch.... (I'm currently on my doofusses doomed to repeat unread history soapbox, poor W. is one of the greatest failures of our time and I don't even think hes well enough read to realize it. ps, if you've followed up on Redlady's idea about the Fraser book and liked it I'll say her book "Lady In Waiting" though not on MA, was an even better read. My love/hate/make you think really hard about society book to rave about du jour is Alan Blooms '80's classic The Closing Of The American Mind...I spent more than a year on and off struggling to compose a letter to him about how I felt about his work and just as I thought I had something to send maybe he dropped dead.....somehow I fear that for all of us.

    .Hi Toinette!
I saw your post on the Moms who read group. I'm new to shelfari and adding new friends and requested your friendship! I really like the variety on your bookshelf!
I read Marie Antoinette by Antonia Fraser last month. It was a wonderful Biography of Marie Antoinette. I don't see it on your bookshelf yet. You should definitely add it to your wishlist if you don't have it already! Also...Abundance is another one. A fictional account of Marie Antoinette. I have that to read on my bookshelf. I can relate to being a "theme binger"!

I'm also a theme binger and have rows of books on different subjects that have fascinated me. I live near Amish country and the quilts are beautiful. You must have a lot of patience to be able to stitch those intricate designs.

Hey Toinette! I am a hand quilter, too. Or at least, I used to be before I had kids. I am a sucker for reproduction 1930s fabrics and all those old classic patterns. Anyway, saw your post about The Bright Side of Disaster (my book!) on Moms Who Read... and thought I'd say hi!

Hello Again ~ I read Eye of the Dragon many years ago and loved it! I am starting a reading group for grades 1-3 at our local library so I've been reading lots of juvenile fiction these days in addition to what my daughter and I are reading together. I have also been reading a lot of Young Adult lit. Witch of Blackbird Pond was a reread for me - read it years ago and came across it again not long ago - still enjoy it.
